I am doing good. I have not lost any weight in awhile, but I am maintaining pretty good. Still not exercizing like I should though. Geez, what is it going to take to get me moving!!?? I am starting to consider Plastic Surgery. I am kind of scared though. How are all my January 2004 friends doing?? Let me hear from you! Are you still losing? Are you at goal? Have you had plastic surgery? Looking forward to hearing from you. Mellisia Lap RNY 1/5/04 342/209/170

Hi Mellisia, You look great. For exercise you need to find something that you will enjoy. Some of the things I like are water aerobics, walking on my treadmill, or mall walking, pilates (love this the most and its a fantastic 20 min workout and you can feel a difference right away) and I just started using Carmen Electra's strip tease dance dvd's, just a lil something naughty (not really no stripping is involved) alot of dance moves. I just ordered from Netflix Denise Austins Yoga Buns, I thought I might try yoga also. Hope this gives you some ideas. I have lost more than my goal weight. If you read my profile I had a rough year last year and lost very quickly due to an illness. I am happy with my weight and wearing a size 4 and xs in clothing. I am considering plastics in the near future, a tummy tuck - don't have much loose skin in tummy but would like it tightened. A boob lift would be nice. My hubby says I don't need plastic surgery and that if I did I would become a size 2 and that he thinks that I would be too tiny. Before I was obese I was a size 3-4, I even had some of my old jeans from the late 80's that I can wear now. I keep an old pair of my biggest size jeans as a reminder. Do you have alot more confidence now? Did you lose any of your friends or family members treat you differently? I know that its not too late to still loose more weight I have seen others post this. I seen some posts regarding plateau busters. Keep in touch my fellow wls friend. Denise 250/125

Hi All, I have stopped loosing, I am down from 320 to 185-190 at 5'10 that is not to bad. however my goal was 170. I did get up to 195 at one point but the got a stomach flu and went back down to 185. I have had quite a bit of trouble with stomach ailments, nothin major but plenty annoying. I have horrible, terrible, awfull gas. When I try to hold it in the pain is unbearable, My husband always wants to take me to the ER for it, but I know it will pass and I will be OK. DOes anyone have any advice. I have tried Maximum strength Gas X, Beano, Lactaid. Nothing even touches it. It is extremley embarassing on top of everything else. I rarely go out because of it. I light candles at home all the time and keep air freshner in my desk. Thank God I have my own office. It is a huge problem. Other than that. I am happy with my progress. I can wear a size 14 or 12 and a medium from a 26 and 4x. I know could loose a little more with exercise, but I have sloffed off on that. I would still recomend the surgery to anyone ready for the changes required. If only I could get rid of the gas problem, It would be perfect.

Shirley, I am emberrassed to say that I have this same problem. It does get pretty painful sometimes. Almost bad enough that I want to go to the ER. I don't think it is just us as I have been reading alot of posts lately on other people complaining of the same problem. Well, I hope you find something that gives you relief soon. If you figure something out let me know and I will do the same. Mellisia

I am SO relieved to see I am not the only one going through this, too! I wonder if it's just a phase? I hope it's just a temporary phase, anyways! The one thing I've found that works really well is Imodium extra-strength. When my tummy starts the beginnings of what I know is going to give me some god-awful cramps and pain (from holding it in, of course), then I pop one and see how it does. If it doesn't put enough of a damper on things, I take a second one. If the first one doesn't knock it down fully, then the second one absolutely does the trick. I'm finding this happens when I get a wee bit too much sugar -- not enough to dump, but enough to really upset my tummy. Cheers! Kathie

Denise, you're doing so great! You really look gorgeous! I wished you lived closer so you could pull me by my hair and get me to exercize with you. I am one of those people that can't do anything alone. I have been considering taking a Yoga class, but I'm trying to get get someone to go with me...lol I just can't get over being self conscious. The only thing I wasn't prepared for Post-Op was all the psychological stuff I am going through now. Congrats on your successful weightloss! PLease keep in touch! Mellisia 342/209/170

It took me 17 months but I reached my surgeons goal of 215. I have a large frame and a lot of muscle from all the exercise I've done over the years. I wear a size 16 now, the plastic surgeon says I'll be in a 12/14 after my plastic surgery October 21st. I won't ever be a size 4 but then I'd probably be dead from anorexia before I'd reach a size 4. I'm satisfied with how I look, but when I step on the scale it drives me nuts to think I've finished losing and I'm still over 200 lbs. Hopefully plastic surgery will take me below the 200 mark. I find myself at loose ends mentally now. All the excitement of losing weight is gone, leaving me with a feeling of "What now". I've decided that I am going to do something each week outside my comfort zone. That doesn't mean anything major, just a trip to the bookstore, local pub, join an enviromental group, live theatre, etc. I've been a hermit for too long, anything to get me out of the house. Best of luck for your continued success. Pat 5'6" large frame 410/210 (below goal of 215)

I am doing great. I had lost all my weight by 11 months out. And now I am just holding on tight to it. Sometimes it is hard due to head hunger, but I am controlling that much better now thanks to some self help books and a great support buddy. When Hurricane Katrina hit that threw me off for a while as we were without power and water and my place of employment got hit pretty hard, but now i am getting back into my routine and back exercising like I should which has made maintaining much much easier. I am considering a tummy tuck but a little nervous about another surgery. I had my Rny 1/15/04 and then in Dec 2004 had to have my gall bladder out. So not sure when I will go for the tummy tuck but I would really really like to have one. Melissa Lap Rny 1/15/04 277/136 -141 pounds
