an update
Well I am 16 months out. Still haven't reached goal. The weightloss is really slowing down. Since January I have lost 6 lbs. :::sigh::: I figure that I have a minimum of 50 lbs to go. On the positive side, I had a back xray today and for the first time in my life, I could close the gown in the back and not have my rear end hanging out.

Hang in there we will reach goal if we stick to our diet/exercise program. I have lost 21 lbs since January 1 but it has been a real struggle. Many days I eat NOTHING but protein in order to keep losing. It seems one bite of carbs stops my weight loss at this point.
Some weeks I eat nothing but protein and lose 7 lbs but when I go back to eating lettuce, veggies, fruit it jumps back up 3-4 lbs. I still get a net loss of 3-4 lbs. The regain of course relates to the fact that the all protein diet causes some dehydration, so when I add back the lettuce, veggies, fruit again the water weight comes back.
We can do this, we can do this, we can do this. Can't we? I know people in my support group who are still losing a couple of pounds a month at 2 years so I still have hope.

It was really nice to read the incouragement that you were giving. I have been at a stand still for about 6 months. I haven't been working at it. I have lost my weight through just having the surgery. I lost 70 in a year. I dieted for 20 years and knew how to eat healthy right up there with the best of them. I gave up on the dieting to lose weight and put my hope into the surgery. I was losing weight so well that I just eat as normal as I could, but smaller amounts. I still don't eat sugar, I have eaten some lately and I didn't get sick like I use to. But after reading the posted statements about letting yourseft get use to the sugar I am going to try to not eat it at all. After reading your responds it remainded me of my weight lost days when I would do the portein and didn't have the help that this surgery has given me. This has made me look at what I am doing now. I would move heaven and earth to lose weight before the surgery and then gain it back again. Now I am playing around. I see now that I need to get with it and do the things that I know will work. I might be able to get a net loss of 3-4 lbs. I'll take those odds. Thanks for sharing.

I am the same way. I am stuck at 204-208. I bounce between the numbers. I just don't get on the scales anymore. I wolud like to lose 50 more lbs. And then i think that if i did not lose another pound, I am still very happy now. But i also was extremely happy when i finally fit a regular hospital gown and they did not automaticly give me the maternity gown. That was cool. lol
Linda,
I have been going up and down with the same 2-4 pounds and this week i lost them and am at the lowest i have been. I have lost 114#'s. Im afraid to get too happy because it might go up a couple of pounds next week but i did up my cardio ( ive been lifting weights and ive lost inches but the pounds weren't budging!) and ive started drinking my protein drink for breakfast again. Good luck. michelle
Congratulations on your great success to this point. You should try writing down everything you eat and count the calories. You might be surprised that you are actually getting extra calories. Also sometimes you need to increase the calories to get moving again. As for exercise remember muscle weighs more than fat and if your measurements are goinging down that is a goos sign. I know it is frustrating but think of the success you already have acheived and then move forward.
Positive thoughts,
Robin
