Please tell me I'm not the only one.I am feeling soreness in my shoulder and upper arms. The pain is like a toothache. Its like arthritis.I think its the loss of weight but I gotta know if anyone else is getting this too. Also does anyone get bad gas pains in the middle of night that wake you. I have had 2 incidents in the last 6 weeks. Dr.Roye says its not major or anything with the surgery but let me tell you the pain almost made me call 911 the other night.Im no baby with pain but still want to know if Im not the only one!!

Connie I know exactly how you feel..The gas pains ARE terrible, but i found if i increased my water during the day (im so awful about getting it all in) it helps.... Its wierd, just this week I noticed this achy feeling in my arms and upper back. Not painful but achy and sore like you said...Hmnn, i wonder what that is? I just thought I was maybe tossing and turning and didnt realise it at night...Im glad you posted because I dont feel as alone. Donna

Connie, I have the same achyness in my right arm and shoulder, and I didn't even relate it to the bypass surgery, I thought I have bursitis or something like that. Hmmmmmmmmm? I see someone else replyed with the same complaint, we are all 9 months post op, too. My problem now is I have a large incisional hernia that I need surgery for, and may have a tummy tuck at the same time. I have lots of gas, and my husband and I think it is from all the vitimins I chew. Take care, Lark

Dear Connie: I completely understand the pain you are talking about. I had a great deal of pain just as you describe, and I went to doctors, etc. - and my primary care physician was wonderful. The pain was attributed to our great amount of weight loss, and our body is changing its center of gravity. Muscles are working in areas of our shoulders and back that werent having to work before. As your body adjusts to its new weight this will get better. My pain was so severe, and it especially affected my right shoulder joint so badly, that my doctor injected cortizone into the joint. That provided tremendous relief. So, I will bet you that it's your body readjusting - even as bad as it hurts, because I was convinced that my shoulder was dislocated when it was really OK. Just take it easy, stay in communication with your doctor, and go with the flow. You are FABULOUS! God bless, Michael

I have muscle pain sometime, but I just chalk it up to now I am doing a lot more activity. Not just exercise, but more house work inside & out. My muscles are just freaking out. I have a lot of gas when I eat s/f stuff. I always keep Gas-X on hand for those bad times, it helps really quick. Best wishes. Dawn -113
