I eat my regular meals then after 2-3 hours I am so hungry if I don't get something to eat I will throw up with the dry heaves. Has anyone else ever experienced this. Thanks for your input

Kathy, what about eating something really small every couple of hours? i had to do that in the beginning; every couple of hours I would feel so ill. So I would have a bite of yougurt, then 3 hrs or so later maybe an eggbeater, etc... It helped alot and the nausea went away after a week or so... Best of luck to ya! I know it is a sucky feeling to dry-heave UGH...

Kathy, You should probably check with your surgeon as I believe most of us here eat 3 small meals and then 3 snacks per day. Our pouches are so small that we really don't eat that much and certainly by a few hours later we will feel those hunger pangs. Make sure your getting enough protein as that will fill you up, and getting in all your water too. The water will bloat you and curb your appetite somewhat. Good luck! Kim R/az

I myself eat 3 meals of 4 oz. and 2 or 3 snacks of 2 oz. per day. Your pouch does not like to be empty - drinking lots of fluids helps too. The dry heaves could that be from acid build up? Dawn -113

Kathy, Ya know ~ I don't get sick, but I get DROP-DEAD tired if I don't eat every few hours. I am good about getting my fluids in - and since I eat so much protein, I think my body misses the carbs. (Just recently I made a big push to get back on track to alleviate this nightmarish long plateau!) It may only be a cheese stick, but at least my body gets something every few hours to work on increasing my energy level. And you know what? It works! When I'm getting really tired - I realize that I haven't eaten in a few hours. Maybe that's what you need to do to not get sick? Barbie 281/191/170ish?

Hi Kathy! I know this isn't quite exactly the same thing, but before I had surgery (last year), whenever I didn't eat regularly and have something in my stomach at all times, I felt SEVERELY nauseous. I had signs of minor ulcers which can cause this sometimes. This is nothing serious, but it's something to consider - just check with your doctor and make sure that your pouch is OK (I'm sure you're fine, but it never hurts to check). I find now after surgery and down by 187 pounds, that problem no longer exists. I do find that if I do not eat regularly enough, I become very weak and tired - but I never feel nauseous the way I used to. Just a thought - please keep us updated on how you're doing. God bless, Michael
