Brenda, I'm nine months out and I still break my pills into small pieces unless I can chew them. I just feel better doing this to make sure that I won't have any problems. Good luck. Becky

Hi there, Brenda! I believe that at this stage of the game, pills should be OK. They always state the "crush or split" scenario to be extra safe and careful when giving patients directions. However, you might want to try some small pills, just to ease into it - but I have no trouble swallowing pills at all. Good luck and take care!

It really is an individual thing. Having had a small piece of a pill get stuck once was the absolute most excruciating pain I have ever experienced. Heck, I almost called 911 and as a paramedic in the county, that not something I do lightly. Having gone through that experience, however, I will never take a whole pill again. Lida
