Ok I called my doc and they made appointment for me!!! I was so excited but now im scared. Waiting on referral to go and appt is October 7th! Not sure if my body is ready but hopefully I will get a better understanding when I see him. Ive lost 116 pounds and the scale hasnt moved in months so I think thats all for me. I was hoping to lose about 30 more pounds for I did this but oh well and im sure it will take insurance compant forever to approve it anyway. Had a friend of mine up this weekend whos a nurse and thinks I have 30-40 pounds of skin on tummy..Its horrible..I just want clothes to fit right ....tired of buying bigger to accomodate skin and they are huge in legs and waist... Has anyone been yet and done this part of journey????

Yes, I saw one last month for a tummy tuck. He said that he would not touch me until January 2005. But however i am getting a breast reduction on Oct. 13. I am very nervous. More than i ever was for WLS. Dr. Livingston said that to do a tummy tuck now, would be to soon. He wants a year.

Hello Sherry, I have an appointment to see my PCP Oct. 7th, and while I'm there, I will be asking for my referral to see a Plastic surgeon. I believe I have reached my goal, if it wasn't for my excess skin. I simply want to talk to the plastic surgeon to get his opinion on the matter and to find out about how much excess skin I currently have, and when would be the best time to have it removed. If he tells me to wait it out until Janurary, so be it. That's when I was hoping to have it done anyway. Do you (or anyone for that matter) have any back problems with the extreme weight loss and all the excess skin hanging down? Oddly enough, I never had back problems when I was over weight, but now since I have lost all this weight, my back gives me trouble, and I feel its because of the excess skin hanging out front. (reminds me of when I was pregnant) Rene S

Please, keep me updated on what the Plastic surgeon says about the backpain and tummy tuck. I Would love to hear what he/she would have to say.

I've been having a horrible time with back pain -- I couldn't even make it through a 2-hour rehearsal for the concert band I perform with. But I've been hitting the gym extra hard, and I'm seeing my pain lessen as I work more and more with my back and weight-lifting. I had attributed the pain to muscle weakness from the weight loss... what else would cause it? And how does it tie in to the tummy tuck issue? I'm curious! Thanks! Kathie

Ok it is muscle weakness and the excess skin hanging down and pulling on your weak muscles or something like that is what was explained to me by my pcm.

I just went and had my Plastic Surgery Consult on 10/01/04. I am not going to get the tummy tuc****il Christmas tho. I want to wait. I have lost 120 pounds and think that I am jsut about finished losing too. I wish that I wsnt but, I think that I am. I am restarting my post opt diet just to see if I can get some of the excess weight off. I would at least like to lose 40 more pounds but the weight loss has pretty much stopped. The thing about getting it done too early is that if you have excess weight to lose still like 30-50 pounds and you get it done and continue to lose you can still end up with a flabby belly, but soem execercise can help to prevent that. That is why I am choosing to wait until December to get my tummy tuck...........just in case. My friends all think I have about 15-20 pounds hanging there ( I think more like 8-10). I am so with you on the bigger clothes thing.I have to buy 13/14 to fit around my flab roll, and the legs are HUGE, but then I try on 9/10 & 11/12 and they fit much better in the legs but there is no way they will do up because of all the excess baggage in the front just hanging there. I wish you luck, and I would look into starting a tummy tuck. Sandy 295/178/140 ( I HOPE)
