Hi all! I was 8 months post-opt yesterday. Wednesday's are my weigh in day. Well, I step on the scale every morning. Yesterday I weighed in at 138 lbs. Today (remember Wednesday is my weigh in) I was 139 lbs., the same as last Wednesday. I have to go by today's weigh 139 lbs. In 8 months I have not had a stand still, until now. I knew it would happend but why now, I'm soooo close to my goal weight of 125 lbs. I'm feeling a little down today. I keep telling myself, girl, look how far you've come a 109 lbs. gone! I'm a slow loser! I just another post where a gal has lost 200 since 1/27/04! 200 lbs! OMG! What can I do differently? I eat a lot of protein (i.e., chicken, cheese, eggs, turkey, ham, pork chops). I have a slim fast protein shake every morning for breakfast (it has 20 grams of protein). I sometimes have another slim fast shake in the evening or a class of skim milk. Yesterday for lunch I had 2 pieces of thinly sliced deli turkey breast, 2 teaspoons of cottage cheese and 1/2 cup mandarian oranges. My morning snack was a low fat cheese stick and in the afternoon I had a slim fast snack bar. Then for dinner I had a pork chop with a bean dish I make that consist of green beans, black eyed peas, and chick peas mixed with a cheese sauce. My evening snack was 8 ozs. of skim milk blended with 1 cup of low fat frozen yogurt. What am I doing wrong? I'm excerising! Also, I feel hungry more often then I did before. Is this normal? It's like the demons are back! Help me! What if I don't lose anymore weight? OMG! I know I'm at a healthy weight, but I want to be at 125! Well, I guess if I don't get there 139 is much better than 248, right? I've always battled the "bulge" and I'm still doing it, even after the WLS! Will this be a life long battle? Best of luck to all of you in your continued WLS journey! :horse Kimberley 248/236/139/125 May be, some day, I hope!

Hunny! Eventually our body needs to catch up to what we are doing. For some reason, now is your time. I began my journey at 240 on Jan 30 this year and I am only down to 165 now. I stopped loosing for 5 weeks. Nothing came off. Weight or inches. Now I am loosing again. You will be fine. You are far from a slow looser. Good luck. Tracy

Plateaus SUCK !! However, because you are so close to goal the weight it will be harder to come off. Remember all those skinny people saying if I could just lose these 10 lbs. Well you are now one of those skinny people. It will work for you - just give your body time to adjust to this new life. Dawn -100

I am starving all the time and eat way more than I did,I actually cannot even eat enough physically to get stay full. When you exercise your metabolism is very high. You might need more calories actually not less so your body doesnt hold onto every calorie .You have to eat to lose and the more you work out the hungrier you will get,if you are Truly HUNGRY NOT HEAD HUNGER,its your body saying wooo nelly feed me feed me I need more energy to keep up with the new lean muscle mass and higher energy! It sounds whack but trust me its very true the higher your metobalic rate and energy needs more u gotta eat.Good luck!

You aren't doing anything wrong, your body just wants to rest right now. It has fought a hard battle to get rid of 109 pounds of fat and is confused. You still have a 10 month window to lose weight so don't panic. Like you I haven't been a fast loser and I have a lot more weight to lose than you do. I've lost 103 pounds since surgery and find it slowing down more than I'd like. I work out in the gym 45 min 5 days a week, eat no more than 800 calories, drink my water, get my protein in every day. We will do whatever it takes to finish this process up. I'm sure it's harder when you get that close and want the weight to drop. It's surprising you haven't hit a plateau before now. My weight has only been dropping every other week for some time now, but I remember the first time it happened I went into a panic. I read about others who only lose once a month as they get further out. It's perfectly natural for you to feel hungrier as time goes on. Our pouches stretch for 2 years and it's a scientific fact that it's not from over eating. It's just a natural process. My surgeon stressed that we should eat dense protein (steak, pork, veal, lamb, etc.) and not drink for a half hour after we eat, which would make us feel full longer. I notice when I eat meat loaf, chili, cheese, etc that I want to eat again before the next meal so I think he knows what he's talking about. Soon you will be posting that you can't stop losing. My dream is to one day be able to do one of those post, but I don't think it will happen. I always think just add carbs to your diet and watch the weight loss stop. Apparently it doesn't work that way for some folks. Best of luck for your continued success on your wls journey.
