Explain the window of opportunity???????? Am I finish with the weight lose? I am almost 8 months and I have only lost 80 pounds. I say only because I feel like I have done everything to the T including excercising 5-6 times a week for an hour and ten minutes. I follow the eating plan protien first, then 2-3 tablespoons of veggies. I try to eat between 600-750 calories a day. I haven't eaten sugar, bread, potatoes, rice, pasta in 8 months. I read the boards daily to look for information. I am happy to see so many people successful. I read people losing 80 pounsds in four months(and they do not weight more, many are around my weight and height). I started at 256, 5ft 2 inches. I am angry, disappointed and mad. I'm happy about the 80 pounds, I wear a size 10 confortable and can wear a tight 8 but I do not get get, why isn't the weight coming off. Please repond, I need help!!!

I wish i could explain it to you, but unfortunately I feel the same way. I started out at 220 and am 5'3" tall. Now my wgt for my hgt is 125 I would like to get to 120 and my NP would like 130. Okay that's great 130, but I have been bouncing between 140 and 145 for a month now....At one point I had gotten down to 139 and boy was that great. I have heard that trying some of those plateau diets might help and I am going to try one of them and see what happens.I would really like to get down to my personal goal, but i feel as though I am down as far as my body will let me go, not that it isn't better than what I started at, but You start losing so fast then you want to lose more....I mean I went from a 22/20 to a 9/8 what more could anyone want right? I will let you know if this plateau diet works for me or not. Stacy 220/140/120ish

Hi, Stacy! I hope you don't mind that I'm emailing you! I couldn't help it when I read your response! You are the 1st person I've found that has almost identical stats! I had RNY on 1/9/04. I am 5'3 1/2 and started @ 220 lbs. Today is my 8 mo anniversary and I'm down to 155. 3 weeks ago I was a size 9/8...I just got down to a true size 8, even though I haven't lost any weight since my last size. I've been plateau'd for about 2 months @ 155, although I did go down 1/2 size w/out losing lbs...(what's THAT about??). I exercise 1 hour a day, 7 dys a weeks (I walk aerobically for 3 miles a day). How come I haven't lost anything??? Is this it? Don't get me wrong...I am THRILLED to be @ a size 8, and if I were to stay at that size, I'd consider myself blessed. But I still realistically have 25 more to go. How long was your plateau and did you break it? What did you do to break the cycle? Thank you so much for taking time to read this! Congratulations on your amazing success, and be well! -Jennifer

Daisy, Typically an average person's window of opportunity is about 18-months. So I don't believe that you are done losing weight yet, especially if you are doing everything right. My surgeon gave me tips on lulling my body out of slack mode - he said do ANYTHING different. increase calories (which I would suggest if you are exercising that much - not enough fuel to burn, so body holds on to more), exercise less, take a break from one type of exercise and start another, go back to liquids for a day or two, etc. Anything that is going to fake your body out and see that something had changed and it has to pay attention. My surgeon also recommends 1000 to 1200 calories per day when exercising regularly, and 800 to 1000 if not. But check with your nutritionist or your doctor. Patience, my dear, is a virture - as my grandmother would say. Good luck! Barbie 281/196/170ish

Size 8 sounds wonderful to me. However you obviously want to lose more. I will pass along a tip someone gave me. This lady was 15 pounds from goal, had been on a 4 month plateau when she heard of the Stillman diet. She went on it and lost 6-7 pounds in one week. I remember she gained back a pound or two when she came off but I don't remember if it was 1 or 2 pounds. I went on it last month and lost 11 pounds in 9 days, then regained 2 pounds when I came off of it. I did my normal low carb Dr. Atkins 600-700 calories a day for the next three weeks and lost 3 pounds. This past week I did Stillman again and have lost 8 pounds in 9 days. Like you I have done everything based on my doctors plan. Work out in the gym for 45 minutes 5 days a week, etc but I was only losing 2 pounds every other week. I am hoping Stillman will be the answer to get me to goal. The diet is very restrictive. All you can eat is meat & eggs plus drink 80 oz of water a day. If you think you are interested go to the MSN search engine and type "Stillman diet". I'm sure other search engines have it but I tried one the other day that didn't have it. It is not a diet you stay on long term. It is a plateau breaker designed for 7-10 days. Best of luck in whatever you decide to do.
