HI, Just wondering what and how much everyone is eating at this stage? I am not counting calories or carbs but try to watch what I eat. Still throw up about once a wk. Think I eat too fast or don't chew enough. I had surgery on 1/29/04 and have lost 93 lbs. I am happy with my progess but my doctor feels I should have lost more. Of course he wants me to get down to 142lbs and that is not my goal. We will see. Thanks for taking the time to answer. Pat

Hi Pat! I'm not counting calories either, but I do watch my carbs and eat a lot of protein and I eat my protein first. Because I'm not a breakfast person (never have been) I have a low carb slim fast shake (it has 20 grams of protein), for lunch it varies. Today I am having 1/2 cup low fat plain yogart w/raisins & one packet of equal and 3 thin pieces of (about 1-1/2" in diameter) summer sausage and for dinner I'll probably have a scrambled egg with cheese & a 2-3 ozs. of a bean dish I make. For my evening snack I'll either have a protein shake or a glass of skim milk. My afternoon snack will probably be nuts or a low carb slim fast bar. I don't throw up, (Thank God) but if I eat too fast I get nauseaued and just feel crapy! A lot of times after I eat I do get a pain in my left side. I have an appointment with my surgeon next Wednesday and will ask him about it. Best of luck to you in your WLS journey! Kimberley 248/236/144.5/125 Some day I hope!

Hi Pat, Here was my food for today: 24 oz 2% latte from Starbucks bag of small peanut butter crackers 6 oz mixed fruit philly cheese steak with mushrooms and provolone cheese with au jus minus the bun half of baked potatoe with cheese, bacon bits (real) and mushrooms 8 oz glass of milk 24 oz water That's probably not enough protein - but I'm working on it... PAT< You and I had the same surgery on the same day! My loss to date is 96lbs and both my doctor and I are thrilled. I came to a stand still a couple of weeks ago,to be expected. All I did was shape up my intake a little. More protein, more water, less carbs. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!!!!!

Pat you are doing great melting away. My usual day consist of 5 meals of 3-4 oz each. My usual intake of calories is 1,000-1,200, protein is up in the 70's per day. And of course lots of water/crystal light per day. As long as you are still loosing that is the best thing. Best wishes Dawn -96

Hi Pat, Like you, I've lost 93 pounds since surgery. I wi**** would drop faster. I was a heavyweight and expected the weight to drop faster. Dummy me, if I had a bad metabolism before surgery why did I expect it to change? My surgeon is pleased with my loss and told me I had three things going against my being a fast loser (1) Over 50, (2) diabetic, (3) slow metabolism from years of yo-yo dieting. I only lost 5 pounds the first week and we all know I could not eat that week. My surgeon does not allow protein shakes/bars after six weeks. He feels we get more nourishment from food. I consumed an average of 702 calories per day last month. My food plan looks similar to this every day: B- 4 oz grits 2 slices turkey bacon 1 scrambled egg Most days I don't eat it all. Breakfast is my hardest meal because the bacon & eggs both tend to make me feel a bit sick so I quit eating. The rest of the day food sits well in my pouch. L- 3.5 Oz Pork chop or steak (braised or grilled) Lettuce Italian fat free salad dressing D- 4 Oz Shrimp, pork chop, steak, etc (braised or grilled) Lettuce (or onions & peppers) Italian fat free salad dressing S- 2 SF Popcicles If I get really hungry I will eat 8 almonds as an additional snack.
