Slowing Down
I weighed in this am @ 146 lbs. Only down one pound since last week. I know, I know it's better than gaining or not loosing! 102 lbs. gone forever and ever! I want to get to 125 and I know the last 21 lbs. will take forever, right? I'll be 7 months post-op on the 21st of this month. As of yet, I have not hit a plateau, maybe this is it?
Do you think 125 lbs. is unrealistic? I'm 5' 3" and am small to medium frame. I'm open to comments, thoughts, and ideas! At my last visit with my surgeon he said 135 would be good.
Best of luck to all of you on your WLS journey.

Hi Kimberley. I am only down 70 lbs. I have been sitting at 170 (started at 240) for almost three weeks. I can't wait to see 160. I am happy about the 70, don't get me wrong, I just am impatient. You are doing great. In my personal opinion your goal weight is what you are comfortable at and what you feel good at. If you get down to 125 and feel good, I don't think that is wrong. I want to be 120. I am 5' 1". My hubby is afraid I will look anorexic (spelling). I told him when I get there if we (meaning me) aren't happy, I will try to gain a little. That is just my .02.

You probably haven't hit a plateau but rather just slowed down.
Someone on another board who was 15 pounds from goal hit a 4 month plateau she could not break with diet, exercise, water, etc. She heard about the Stillman diet and went on it. She was losing almost a pound a day. I think she lost 9 lbs in 10 days. After reading about her success I went on it and lost 10 lbs in 7 days.
It is a VERY restrictive diet, basically only eating meat & boiled eggs. If you are interested go to the search engine and type "Stillman diet". It is designed as a plateau breaker and you only stay on it 7-10 days.
You're doing great! I am 5'6" and my goal weight is 137. But the way I see it is.....our bodies will stop losing when they are comfortable. And everybody has a different amount of muscle which weighs more. I am at 179 right now and a size 10/12. I have a lot of muscle. So who knows if I will get down to 137. (OH IT'D BE SO NICE THOUGH) But I figure we have to mostly go by how we feel and look--not just by what that ugly judgemental ego breaking scale says! Keep up the great work!

Hi Kimberley,
I too, have slowed alot. I am 7 months out and down 80 pounds. I am 58.5 inches tall and Dr. has a goal of 120 for me. I have 47 more to go (I started out at 247.) I figure that losing slower is better for our bodies, more time for adjustment and hopefully time for the skin to have time to catch up(hey I'm keeping my fingers crossed . I think you should see how you feel when you get there. I think that a bmi is a better measure to use. I think now I'm just obese and looking forward to being overweight. I wish you all the best, but most of all wish you good health! Constance
Hi Kimberley,
Just remember that it takes 12 -18 months to get to our goals. They say that most people only lose 70% of what they want to lose. The reason is because after six months the pounds slowly drop off and people just settle. We are no longer fast losers. You just need to stick with it and keep you're chin up.
I don't have a weight goal, because it would drive me nuts. All bodies are different so I have decided that when I can put on those jeans and say "Oh yeah!" then I've gotten to my goal weight. I know that I am shooting for around 160 and I have 35 pounds to go, but I'm not focusing so much on how much I weigh as I how I look!
You're doing awesome! Keep up the hard work and it will pay off! No, you're not going to lose those last few pounds as easy as the others, but they always say the last twenty or so pounds are the hardest to lose and that's for anyone!
You're doing awesome Kimberely!
Good luck!

I can complety agree with you on the slowing down....I lose 9 lbs in one week then stop ...gain a pound lose a pound, but then again I am a slave to the scale. My goal i set is 120 because I too am only 5'3" my NP thinks that I should shoot for 130...But I am still trying....Only 20 lbs to go and it can be so discouraging. But at least according to my new and improved BMI I am considered normal and not morbidly obese. We shall see keep up the good work.

Thanks to all of you for your support! I was 7 months post-op on Saturday (8/21/04) and tomorrow is my weigh in! I'm hoping to lose at least 1-2 pounds! I go see my surgeon next Wednesday (9/1/04). I know he'll be pleased with my results, but I'm still considered overweight and not normal weight.
I feel great and I must say I look pretty dam good too, especially in my size 8 and 6 jeans. Yes, I said size 6. I'm now buying size 8's & 6's. I just can't believe it, size 8's & 6's and I was in 22/24! It's a great feeling!
Wishing everyone a wonderful and successful WLS journey!
