Lets compare
All us Jan. surgery people seem to be at the same place with weight lost... I feel so in place I feel like I fit right in, I was wondering how I compared to other people who had the surgery around the same time as me, now I know just right.
thanks to everyone for the replys , It helps so much to hear what other people have to say...
Alberto
Hi Alberto,
4 days before surgery I was 296#, surgery was 1/6/04 and as of this am I weighed 188.5 - almost 108#!!!!!!!! I do exercise a lot and I think that has helped a lot, emotionally if nothing else. But even better numbers is my BMI has dropped from 46 to under 30! I am thrilled!!!!
Don't know what I want my final numbers to be, guess I will know when I get there, right?
Keep up the good work!
Sarah
Well Alberto, I had my surgery on 1/21 so I am a little more than 5 months out now and as of today I am down 85 pounds. I was hoping to be down 100 by my 6month anniversary but looks like it will be closer to 90. In any event I feel so much better than I did before, I am working out at curves 3x week, I even went out dancing with friends 2 weeks ago and surpised myself by being able to dance for mor than 30 minutes without dying. Hardly could dance one fast one pre-surgery without sweating. So now Iam sure that it will start slowing down but it will come off, I would like to get down to 140 so I am 35 pounds away from my goal and for once in my life I will have a BMI that is in the normal weight range Yeah!
Guess we're all thinking about the 6 month follow-up appointment!! My pre-op weight was 294 but I had lost 15 pounds on my own before surgery. I'm now at 208 which means I've lost 86 pounds from the surgery, or a total of 101 pounds counting the weight I lost pre-op.
We all need to remember that there are a number of factors which will determine how fast people lose. Men lose faster than women. Those who had more to lose will add up lost pounds faster but may take longer to get to goal. Those who have already taken off most of their excess weight may take longer to lose the last 10-25 pounds. I'm sure age has something to do with it, as does exercise. It's not about numbers...it's about feeling good, looking good, and being healthy.
It sounds like we're all doing great and should be very proud of ourselves. I'm thinking of getting a tape recorder so that I can record the MANY people who tell me daily how great I look. One day my weight will level out, people will get used to seeing me at my reduced weight, and I will miss the affirmation.
