Feeling a Little Blue
My surgery was 1/21/04 (5 months post-opt) and I'm down 87.5 lbs. (12 before surgery). Do we count the weight loss before surgery? Guess I'm doing good! I'm just feeling down in the dumps & a little blue! Guess I just need to hear it from others that I'm doing ok and to be patient! I'll get through it!
I feel like I'm losing soooo slow! Today is my weigh in day and when I stepped on the scales this am I was only down 1.5 lbs.! Seems like I've been in the 160's forever! I was hoping to be around 155 when I go to Florida next week. Guess that won't happen! The last few days I've felt fat and bloated! Does anyone else get this feeling? Should I eat more or less? I have been bad lately with excerising. Last week I only walked two days and went on a 7 mile hike this past Saturday. My PCP told me not to left weights for a while, as I pulled a muscle in my right breast area! Didn't know I had muscles there!
One of the things I enjoy the most is peoples reaction when the see me for the first time after shedding the 87.5 lbs. I saw an old friend this past weekend and he had to look 3 times to realize it was me! Oh! What a great feeling!!!
Keep up the good work everyone!!!

Hi Kimberly,
(Surgery 1/20/04) Don't worry. I was stuck at 160 for about a month or so and finally I broke through to 158. That was only 2 days ago. I did notice however, that although I did not lose weight on the scale, I lost inches. I am now in a size 12 jeans (although snug) . I started in a size 20/22. Not bad for a little under 6 months. I've lost a total of 60 pounds. I count from my highest weight before surgery. That is where I was before starting this regimin.
I also noticed that I was feeling very depressed and had my physician up the dose of my medicine. There was a lot of outside stress along with the normal weight anxiety. This helped a lot.
I don't know about you but it took a long time for my period to come back. Before my first one I bloated up, felt tired a lot and ate all kinds of bad stuff. Once that passed I was ok again. I never had any symptoms or problems with that before surgery.
Luck Dog! I wish I were going to Florida too. Have a lot of fun for me.
Show off your new swimsuit.
Smiles, Kathy
Kathy keep up the good work.
Well, I am fortunate that I don't have my period anymore. I had a hystromecy 10 years ago.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts with me. I too am in a size 12 and do wear some 14's and I started out wearing 22/24's. I just want to get to my goal weight of 135 lbs!
My new swimsuit is a size 12 and I must say, it looks pretty good!

That neat that we share the same surgery date. i completly feel for you. I have been stuck at 156 forever then I dropped 4 lbs in 2 days and gained back 2. Boy did I want to cry, but then i just remeber that 5 months ago I weighed 225lbs and wore a size 20/22 pants and now i can wear 12's. Because belive me i want to hit the 150 mark soon before I go mad. Sometimes i just look in the morror and feel like I am still that 225lb girl squeezing into a 12. As long as you feel good and feel healthy it will all pass (I hope) And believe me I also love when people have to take that second glance to make sure that it's really me. Especially men. That's an awesome feeling. But hey we should be proud of what we have accomplished. It's a long road that has it's ups and downs, but eventually it will all work out in the end. Keep up the great work!!!!

Hi. Wow we are like exactly on the same path. Isn't funny how several of us have weights that are so close. I am going to attribute it to we are all doing exactly what we are supposed to. I am a RN. I read Nora Roberts too! I started lifting (seriously) three weeks ago and I have lost 8 pounds since I added it to my bike riding, walking, and water aerobics. Size wise it has made a huge difference in how my clothes are fitting - muscle weighs more than fat and I am still losing so that is great! I have been averaging 1-2 pounds usually a week.
