Connie, You are doing absolutely perfect! Don't let anyone else's silly remarks get you down. Everyone is different and will lose weight at a different pace. Keep up your good work and don't set yourself such high goals. Like you said in your profile, you haven't seen your current weight in over 20 years. YOU ARE DOING AWESOME!!!! Keep up the GREAT work!!! René

Hey that is NUTHIN to be sneezed at. Keep it up. Did you do the planner on here? I have lost 61 pounds and that seems like not much to some people but I think it is great. I keep that planner printed out on my fridge - so far I have been right on track with it and when I look at December 2004..............

Hi Connie, Hang in there, it will happen. Just think of it this way, when was the last time you were able to lose 70-75 lbs in 5 months? Something to think about, I was just talking to someone the other day who put things into perspective for me - our very own Susan Maria (bariatriceating.com) lost 76 lbs her first YEAR after surgery, the balance of her weight she lost afterward. She has been and continues to be such a great success and role model - look at it this way, you are ahead of the game - you will do it and just to throw one more cliche in -- the weight wasn't put on overnight.... Hang in there, you'll get there - we all will! ((hugs)) Carla

Hi Connie, I too think you are doing marvelous! Don't sweat the numbers! Everyone puts on and takes off differently, but I do understand how frustrating it is. I also worry about stretching the pouch, and worry that I might be one of the ones who 'out eat' the surgery. In my conversations with dieticians, they all stress that the 2 big things to prevent this from happening are #1 NO CARBONATED drinks AT ALL for at least 1 year. New research is saying no carbonated drinks ever again, the carbonation will stretch the pouch even after a year. #2 NO DRINKING LIQUIDS WITHIN 40 MIN before or after eating. I personally find this a little difficult, especially if I have something dry, like chicken or overcooked meat that is dry. I am not sure of a solution for this. You can't always have meat in a sauce, I mean after all grilled chicken is grilled and tends to be dry, especially white meat. I have been having a little more problem here lately with "head hunger". I did not have any at first, and now I seem to want to snack more even though I am not hungry. Odd how things change as we go through this journey, isn't it? Keep up the good work. Sarah

Hey Connie, we share the same date!! I have lost 52 pounds since surgery to go with the 31 I lost in the couple of months before it. I think you are doing great. I hear you about the increased hunger and eating though. It seems like I grazed all last weekend, but then lost 2 pounds after staying the same for the past few weeks. Go figure.

Dear Connie, Darling you are doing okay. Alot of patients donot lose the weight that they want or thought they would. Every one of us have different bodies and they all work differently. I guess I lucked out not to be hungry all the time. I have to force myself to eat at times. Maqke sure you are eating your proteins first and foremost. This is the most important to us. If you cannot get the proteins down by food then you need to do it by the protein shakes. Make sure you take your vitmains like they told you. If you are able to eat vegetables than do so a tablespoon or 2 at a time. I myself eat a small piece of fruit every so often and it doesn't bother me. I do however donot eat breads and try to limiyt my carbs to maybe a tablespoon or 2 at the most. Drink alot of fluids. Especailly water. I also drink crystal light. herbal teas, flavored waters etc without sugar. Please donot give up. You will make it. I do alot of praying to god and trust in him to help me and as I do this I have been helped and blessed. You will also That is great you are down 78 pounds. First, my name is JoAnn. I too had the surgery on January 19th. In my beginning months it was hard on me as my system was not allowing me to keep down the foods I was eating. So you know where I was most of the time. It was a bummer at first. But I am now 5 months and around 3 1/2 to 4 months after the surgery my system starting digesting the food. Except I still have some problems with noodles, rice and sometimes potatos, Pork chops no mattewr how thin I get them they will noyt digest for me. Other than that I am able to eat most foods now. I weighed 419 before I decided to have the surgery. I lost 21 1/2 pounds 2 weeks before the surgery. I now weigh 303. I total that at 116 pounds. I was at a 3 week stand still not losing weight and I was told that is normal. I am happy with waht I have lost and I no longer have to take my diabetes or B/P meds. I am only taking Celexa for depression and talwin every now and then for my knee pain. I do take a Multiviatmin with iron,. 1500 MG of calcium, B-Complex every day and 1000 Mg B-12 shot once a month. I am so happy to be off my meds. I have 175 pounds to go to get down to be 130 Pounds. But I will see what I look like at 150 pounds. I think I will have to go down to 130 pounds as I am small bone and I am only 5 foot. I wish you much sucess as you comtinue to lose the weight and I also would love to be your new friend and get emails from you. My email addresss is [email protected] I look forward to hearing from you.Take care and God Bless you. Sincerly, JoAnn

Hi Connie, I understand where you are coming from because I am in the same place. At the rate I am losing I will still be over 200 lbs at 18 months. It's hard to believe you have your insides rearranged to still be obese at the end of the journey. If I weren't following the surgeons program exactly then I could blame myself, but since I am I have to accept that my body is determined to stay fat. My surgery date was 1/20/04 and I've lost 75 lbs. Isn't it great though when you think of all the things you can do easily today that you couldn't do several months ago? Best of luck on your continued wls journey. Pat 410/352/277/?
