Daggone plateau!!
GRRRRRRR!!! I am so frustrated. I know I should be happy with my weight loss so far, but I am just a few pounds from a couple "milestones".
I started my journey at 304, (day before surgery I was at 278 because I had to lose 10% of my weight prior to surgery) I am 206 today...which is 2 pounds from my being a memeber of the Century Club...which is a BIG deal to me if no one else...AND only 6 pounds from being UNDER 200!!!
I have been stalled between 205-206 for 2 weeks. Nothing seems to be moving me forward. I have increased my walking, now over 45 minutes every day (I even park far away and walk from the far corners of every parking lot). I have been more efficient at getting all my protein in, making sure I take ALL my vitamins, as well as drinking more water and less decaf tea.
I know IT will come off...and this will pass..but right now I am just sooo frustrated, I could scream. The doc predicted I would be at 160 by the end of July and I am having serious doubts that will happen. To be honest, I dont have a big concern on my final GOAL weight since my life is soooo much better now than it has been for years.
I just needed to vent a little and knew you guys would understand! Thanks for listening to me rant!
Hugs,
Harriet
Wow Harriet!
You've lost 98 lbs in 5 months!!!!! AWESOME! I envy you so much!
I am waiting for the dreaded plateau, and I'm really hoping I don't hit one. Silly, as we know that we all do. I will be 5 months out the 26th of June and I'm now at -58 lbs., you have done an incredible job. I have noticed that people like me, who lose very slowly, seem to do so, but seem to avoid the plateau's early out. (I'm hoping anyway). For those of you who seem to lose an incredible amount early on, it would make sense that your body is now going "Whoa....wait a minute here. We need to slow things down a bit! I need to recoup from all this loss!" It is only temporary remember, and if you keep doing what your suppose to, it is going to start coming off again. You are doing a great job and should really give yourself a pat on the back. Try not to set a specific goal (160 by the end of July), but just sit back and tell yourself that this too shall pass. Good luck and let us know how your doing!

Hey Kim -
I'm with you... I lose slow but I too, have avoided a plateau. I consistently lose between 2 and 4 pounds each week. At first I got frustrated over this, but then I kicked back and began to enjoy the ride! No diet I was ever on did I lose that consistently!
Take care & Good luck all!

You are doing great............... I am at the same weight that you are at............. I am stuck to ............. But it will move again! Just think how far you have come............. It will happen Just hang in there......... Think about how long it took you to put on the weight.......... Well alot has come off in a short time............ That few pounds will happen!
I understand how you feel. I have been at the same weight for almost a month and it is bugging me. I know I am still losing inches and of course I am happy that I have gone from 225 to 255, but I like to see the numbers not feel them. AHHHHHH!!!!! I am getting so frustrated with it. I have 35 more pounds to lose before I hit my "goal" And at this rate I feel like I will never get there!
Hey Harriet!!
Hang in there lady. I just came off a 2.5 week plateau. I busted thru it by increasing my calories. This was at the advice of my nutritionist. I exercise 6 days a week at the health club and she said on those days I need more calories. I was only doing about 800 per day (consistently) and she said I should be doing 1000 to 1150. She also suggested that I back off the exercise to 5 days a week. She wanted me to vary my calories each day too, so I was not eating the same amount each day. She said you need to keep your body guessing to keep the weight loss fueled. I did it for three days this week and as of this morning I am down another 3lbs. So whatever calorie level you tolerate I would suggest upping it by a few hundred on the days you are physical and exercise. Its worth a try...hope it helps!! Great job on your lose so far!!

Harriett,
Hang in there. . First, my name is JoAnn. I too had the surgery on January 19th. In my beginning months it was hard on me as my system was not allowing me to keep down the foods I was eating. So you know where I was most of the time. It was a bummer at first. But I am now 5 months and around 3 1/2 to 4 months after the surgery my system starting digesting the food. Except I still have some problems with noodles, rice and sometimes potatos, Pork chops no mattewr how thin I get them they will noyt digest for me. Other than that I am able to eat most foods now. I weighed 419 before I decided to have the surgery. I lost 21 1/2 pounds 2 weeks before the surgery. I now weigh 303. I total that at 116 pounds. I was at a 3 week stand still not losing weight and I was told that is normal. I am happy with waht I have lost and I no longer have to take my diabetes or B/P meds. I am only taking Celexa for depression and talwin every now and then for my knee pain. I do take a Multiviatmin with iron,. 1500 MG of calcium, B-Complex every day and 1000 Mg B-12 shot once a month. I am so happy to be off my meds. I have 175 pounds to go to get down to be 130 Pounds. But I will see what I look like at 150 pounds. I think I will have to go down to 130 pounds as I am small bone and I am only 5 foot. I wish you much sucess as you comtinue to lose the weight and I also would love to be your new friend and get emails from you. My email addresss is [email protected] I look forward to hearing from you.Take care and God Bless you.
Sincerly,
JoAnn
