Hi Teri, My surgeon suggested that I keep to as close to 700 cal a day as I can, but that whatever ex I do, I can have a little more cal that day. For me, some days the 700 cal is really hard to reach, and other days, the 700 cal is too easy to reach! I try to concentrate on my fluids (at least 64 oz), get at least 60 gms of protein a day, and some sort of formal, intentional exercise every day (by which I mean walking, swimming, ex class etc). Good luck! Sarah

Hi Teri, I'm not sure what I get in - It's so hard to tell - sometimes I can only eat like 1 - 2 teaspoons of something and I'm done - so I don't know how to break down the cal's, or protein for that matter. The only thing I know for sure is that I get 60-70 grams of protein in everyday from my shakes - I wish I could get a more accurate count - but at this point, it's the best I can do. I wish you the best! ((hugs)) Carla

Everybody on the Texas Message Board says to track your intake through FITDAY.com.. but.. it is so hard to match what you eat.. often they don't give you portions equal to what we eat. It just feels more trouble than it is worth. I had no idea that the recommended count was 700 cals!! But then I have no idea how much I actually eat. I guess now that I know it is supposed to be so low.. I better start checking ... I sure don't want to stop losing. Thanks for the info, Jan 287-194-145

THANKS TO EVERYONE FOR THE RESPONSES. I HEARD BACK FROM MY NUTRITIONIST AND SHE SAID AT THIS STAGE I SHOULD BE CONSUMING AROUND 800 CALORIES AND IF I AM PLATEAUING (WHICH I HAVE BEEN FOR ABOUT 2-3 WEEKS) TO INCREASE THE CALORIES BY 100-200 PER DAY. I EXERCISE FOR 30 TO 45 MINUTES EVERYDAY, SO SHE FELT MY CALORIE LEVEL SHOULD BE AT THE 950-1100 RANGE. SHE SAID YOUR BODY WILL THINK IT IS STARVING AND HOLD ON TO AS MUCH WEIGHT AS IT CAN. I TRIED INCREASING THE CALORIES FOR THE LAST TWO DAYS AND THE SCALE FINALLY MOVED THIS MORNING. I USE FITDAY.COM TO TRACK MY INTAKE AND I WAS ONLY CONSUMING ABOUT 600-800 CALORIES PER DAY. BEST OF LUCK TO ALL...HAPPY LOSING!!

I love FitDay, it's been a huge help to me. I eat 500-650 calories a day, trying to get at least 60 grams of protein within that. I also walk my treadmill 2-3 times a week, and am increasing that. I had a brief plateau a month ago, right around -90 lbs., and the exercise seemed to get things going again. I see a lot of people on here whose docs say 700-1000 calories a day, but (1) I'm afraid to eat that much and slow or stop my weight loss, which is about -110 lbs. in less than 6 months; and (2) I'm feeling fully satisfied and healthy at around 500 calories a day, so why mess with success? My doc never gave us a calorie target, just a protein target with minimal sugar and fat. I still have about 75 pounds to lose, so I want to keep the momentum going. I say, whatever works for you, do it!

Teri, I track consistently on Fitday and it shows I eat anywhere from 800-900 calories per day. My weight loss is slow but consistent. 2-3 lbs a week and I haven't, (knock on wood) had any plateaus. Good luck! Kim R/az

Teri, I talked to my nutrinist and she told me not to worry about the claories for me as I was not eating alot of food. I cannot tell you how much to consume , but I don't worry. I hope you can find out. Maybe you should call your DRs office and ask them or your nutrisnist . First, my name is JoAnn. I too had the surgery on January 19th. In my beginning months it was hard on me as my system was not allowing me to keep down the foods I was eating. So you know where I was most of the time. It was a bummer at first. But I am now 5 months and around 3 1/2 to 4 months after the surgery my system starting digesting the food. Except I still have some problems with noodles, rice and sometimes potatos, Pork chops no mattewr how thin I get them they will noyt digest for me. Other than that I am able to eat most foods now. I weighed 419 before I decided to have the surgery. I lost 21 1/2 pounds 2 weeks before the surgery. I now weigh 303. I total that at 116 pounds. I was at a 3 week stand still not losing weight and I was told that is normal. I am happy with waht I have lost and I no longer have to take my diabetes or B/P meds. I am only taking Celexa for depression and talwin every now and then for my knee pain. I do take a Multiviatmin with iron,. 1500 MG of calcium, B-Complex every day and 1000 Mg B-12 shot once a month. I am so happy to be off my meds. I have 175 pounds to go to get down to be 130 Pounds. But I will see what I look like at 150 pounds. I think I will have to go down to 130 pounds as I am small bone and I am only 5 foot. I wish you much sucess as you comtinue to lose the weight and I also would love to be your new friend and get emails from you. My email addresss is [email protected] I look forward to hearing from you.Take care and God Bless you. Sincerly, JoAnn
