hair loss
I was wondering how many of you are experiencing hair loss and what you are doing about it. I am finding it difficult to get all my protein in becuase I still do not tolerate meat well. It seems that soft things go down so much easier but they are higher in carbs and lower in protien. I am using a special shampoo--Nioxin and taking my bariatric vitamens. Just wondered how you all are doing.

Hi Kelley!
Yeah - I have been losing hair pretty aggressively for the last 3 to 4 weeks. I get ALL of my protein and then some in everyday - so it isn't just the missing protein that causes it. I started taking hair and nail from GNC - it worked for me last time my hair was getting brittle. Other than that - there really isn't a whole lot that works - or at least according to those who've been there before us. I guess it is a small price to pay for rapid weight loss.
Keep your chin up and close your eyes when you clean out the hair brush - that's what I have to do!

I get my protein from GNC.......... You can mix it in your drinks..........and there are different flavors as well.........alot better then the shakes... and you can also bring it back if you do not like it! I take prenatal vitimins.........they help with hair and nail growth........ My doc prescribed them....... Good Luck
I started losing a noticable amount of hair about two weeks ago. I have followed Dr's orders on the protein but seems I am destined to lose the hair. Not surprised, since the same thing happened when I did Optifast years ago. If it gets bad enough I can buy a wig.
The hair loss is a minor thing to me, compared to the benefits of losing the weight. Weight had taken over my life and now I've been given my life back. I can exercise, shop, clean house, work in my yards now. Sounds like normal things to most people but those are things I haven't been able to do for myself the last few years.
Life is great!
Hello Kelley!! I have been lucky, didn't lose very much hair. In talking with my nutritionist, she felt that this is more of an effect of anesthesia rather than the weight loss. Her surgeons told her that they notice hair loss with patients that have had other kinds of surgeries at 3 or 4 months out. This made sense to me as I had lost 100 pounds 10 years ago and didn't lose hair. She said the best thing for it is time. She also said that it is so important to keep the proteins and vitamins up for what is going on inside rather than outside. The people at GNC stores are great help but make sure to OK the stuff with your doctor before taking it. Ü
