Weight Coming Off Slow?
I had surgery on 1/21/04 and have lost 50 lbs since and 12 lbs. pre-op. I think I'm losing slow! I'll weigh in tomorrow, hopefully down 4 more lbs. I am getting a little discouraged, I work out at least 4 days a week, sometimes 5. I ride the bike for 10 minutes, walk on the tread mill for 15 minutes and do the eliptical for 12 minutes. Am I expecting too much too soon? Any thoughts, ideas, comments! Please Help!!
Hi Kim,
I had my surgery 5 days after yours and I am only down -40 as of last week. I too, will weigh myself tomorrow and hope to be down at least another 2-3 lbs. This is the max I have been losing per week since week 3. I am terrified of not making my goal. You have done exceptional so I wouldn't worry about it. Be glad for that 62 lb loss!

Kim,
I seem to be right around -50 as well. I had a chat about this with Dr. Hill and he reinforced that a "healthy" weight loss rate 2.5 pounds per week. Now that we have had the surgery, he says we should be tickled that we are loosing just a bit more than that so that things don't start falling off of us. He reminded me that my goal should not be skinny, but healthy. Now, I would love to slip into a size eight come july, don't get me wrong. I'm just a simple woman. But I also want to be able to get through the day without passing out from malnutrition. I think increase the chance of loosing your hair and all those other bad side effects that noone wants to have happen to them.
I have read from other posts that it helps to walk a full 2 miles at a time in order to see weight start to slip off faster.

I went to the doctor yesterday for my 3 month follow-up..I was officially down 53lbs on BTC scales.... when I talked to the doctor he was very pleased... that is 21% of my goal weight... right where i should be... My bloodwork was just fine...getting all the necessary nutrients and "stuff" currently...so not only lighter but healthier too! which IS our goal... hang in there... you are on track... when was the last time you lost 50lbs in 3 months and it didn't come back! Congrats on the 50 lbs.!
