Hi my name is Debbie and I had surgery on 2/5/04. I thought I would ask you guys, since you are one month out more than me. I haven't lost as much as I would have liked (but who of us have) I lost 21 the first month, and only 12 last month. Will I continue to loose less each month? Can I loose more this month? What can I do to loose more? I'm just now able to drink about 50 oz of water a day, but am determined to get down 64 oz. of water, or crystal light today. Thanks, Debbie -33

Hey Debbie, My name is Wanda and I had surgery 1/12/04 and have lost 46 lbs so far. The first 2 months are so hard on you after surgery because you think, "surgery--Rapid Weight Loss", but it is not that fast at first. I had a cousin that was a month ahead of me and she says the same thing. Just when you get very discouraged, the scales move again. And the clothing sized change without the scales moving sometimes. Just hang in there and try not to worry about the pounds and try on clothes to see you changing that way!! Wanda-46lbs

Hi Wanda, I know you from the Bama board. It is crazy over there right now. I have been trying on clothes, and that is frustrating too. I feel so much smaller when I have my baggy things on, and I get a wild hair to try on some clothes that I think should fit. They are too snug, or make me look fat (okay, I'm still fat... lol) This is going to take a long time to sort out. I suppose it is a good thing the weight doesn't fall off over night or we might take it for granted. I'm going to try real hard to go easy on myself if I don't reach my 50lb goal. I keep setting myself up for failure. I visited yesterday with a friend who had surgery Jan 03. She is below her goal weight. She is 12 years younger and hasn't ever had children, so there are some advantages there. She also has more time to spend at the gym. I'm not saying it was easy for her, but she did stick to her Dr.'s orders. She did not have any sugar during those rapid weight loss months. I guess that is where I'm getting my 50lb goal by month 3. That is what she lost by month three. I have to say she looks amazing. She was wearing a size 6 jean and they were too baggy on her yesterday. She started out wearing a size 22 just like I did. She is 5'2", and I'm so much taller than she is at 5'3" ha ha. Thanks for listening to me. It is theraputic to type out my feelings. Hugs, Debbie -33

I had surgery about one week ahead of you and I have lost 50 pounds so far. I have weeks where the scale doesn't move at all. I do think the weight loss has slowed down and I get pretty frustrated. I am going to try and increase my excercise. I can't eat less, so to me it seems like the only thing I can change for the better. I still haven't been able to drink 64oz of fluids in a day though either.

Hi Debbie! I had surgery 1/21/04 and thus far have lost 47 pounds (I had lost 12 prior to surgery). In the beginning I was like you, why haven't I lost more. Now I just take it as it comes. When I get feeling depressed because I feel I haven't lost quickly enough I try on my womens size 24 jeans and that sure helps (I'm now in a size misses 18). I still can't get 64 oz. of fluid in me. I have had no sugar in my diet. My diet consist of nofat yogurt, low fat cottage cheese, eggs, and tuna, chicken, turkey, and cheese and for beverages decaf coffee, Carnation Instant Breakfast (made w/skim milk), V-8 juice, and water. I still am not able to eat bread. I have tried it toasted and it still bothers me. I have also increased my excerise activities. I started out walking for 15 minutes, I know walk 35 minutes, three days a week and I also have joined a cycling class that I do twice a week. In the near future I hope to begin weight lifting. The thing that gets me is I'm tired alot. Keep up the good work! Kimberley -47

I had surgery 1-27-04. The first month I lost 20 pounds. The second month I only lost 8 pounds . But already this month I have lost 4 pounds. So I think I will beat last month this month. I'm not sure why I only 8 pounds. I write down everything that goes in my mouth. The only thing I can think of is I have been working out so maybe the pounds I'm losing fat wise I'm gaining in muscle? I hope! I have lost lots of inches and went from a 24/26 to a 16.

At my week 9 I actually gained a few pounds and the scale didn't budge for a week. I decided the only way to try get it moving again was to start exercising. I've been doing a mile a day on the treadmill and the scale is moving again. I think exercise is the key to keeping it going.

HI... I had my surgery exactly one month ahead of you and I am down 37 pounds since surgery..though I console myself with the fact that I lost 31 pounds before surgery too, so a total of 68 since September. I was also a "light" weight....5 ft and 190 on the day of surgery. My only suggestion to you is to try to up the water, protein and exercise. I was on a 3 week plateau only 3 weeks after surgery, but after upping both the water and protein and joining the gym, the scale started moving again. Good luck!
