cant handle protein drinks
i am almost 7 weeks post and i get sick every time i drink protein. i heard if you dont get your protein in that you will start to lose your hair. i lost a total of 44 lbs and going getting a b12 shot every month but already had 2 and i think its getting me more hunery. still dont have any energy. i can only eat 3 spoons at one time or i get sick.
Hi Christine,
I can't do protein either. I have a can of it and I try to add it to things. It really has no taste or anything so I know it's all in my head but I just cannot eat/drink anything with it in. I tried it again this morning and I just couldn't do it. So I guess I'll just have to hope I get enough in my food. I take the sublingual B-12 every day that you put under your tongue. I don't care for shots. I give them but don't like getting them.
Have you tried ZeroCarb Isopure? It's not a shake - it's a water-type drink that goes down easily and has 40 grams of protein so that really helps me. I drink at least one a day. It comes in flavors like Grape, Melon, Punch and Raspberry. The shakes were too thick and seemed to fill my pouch up for sooo long! Hope this helps. I'm almost 3 months out and I'm holding my breath about the hair!

I get mine at the Vitamin Shoppe. There are a ton over here but you can also order them online at www.vitaminshoppe.com . You could probably do a google search and find stores nearby that sell it or will ship it to you. I like the grape flavor and the alpine punch flavor. At first it tasted somewhat chalky but now I'm used to it. They're about 2.75ea so it's easier for me to go pick them up rather than have them shipped. It's 20 oz big w/ 40gr protein so I drink that then fill it up with water 4-5 times through the day so I can get my 100 oz in. Good luck - it took me forever to find protein that worked for me!

I could not stomach protein drinks either, but I knew that I needed them. I had no energy, and my weight loss was pretty slow! I got the flavorless (which is not tasteless!) but then I mix in sf nestle quick, some times I use alot and some times a little, I've got choc and strawberry. It has helped alot! I cant say that I like them or look forward to drinking them, but at least I can get in 100 grams of protein a day. Protein really does make all the difference, I have a ton of energy and the scales are really moving now! Good luck, play around with different things.

Hi Everyone!
I had a hard time with the canned protein drinks myself, they were gross! But my cousin who had the surgery got me hooked onto these protein powders you can mix with water or skim milk whatever you want and it isnt thick. They come in awesome flavors, I have big cans now one is banana creme and it even has tiny banana pieces in it and it is 22 grams of protein per scoop, and a scoop makes about 4oz. , I also have one that is orange creamsicle and boy it tastes just like that ice cream bar. The website I order it from is www.bariatriceating.com
you can also order samples to see if you like it first. they also have some very good tasting protein bars on there that taste like candy bars (i mean it) usually they taste like cardboard. the name of the bar is called wheyslim andthey come in peanut butter and then they have caramel ones. It is worth a shot checking it out if you want to try and get more protein in. They have alot of other flavors as well and also these drinks that are like crystal light but they have like 20 grams of portein in them. Hope this helps! Good Luck!
