How much are You Eating? I need your input
Ok everyone, I am 7 weeks out. I have lost 25 pounds and have been plateaued for 3 weeks. What are you eating at this point. I can eat about 2 oz of chicken at a time. I can also eat a small salad with lettuce and shredded cheese and canadian bacon. Is this too much- Now even though I can one day the next day I can't. And if I eat a larger lunch I cant eat supper that is comparible and I have stomach gurgles like my stomach is hungry at night but I refuse to eat before I go to bed.

Hi, I'm 5 weeks out. I try to eat 4 times a day at least. I am not hungry and enjoy very little of what I eat. It is scary for me. So you're doing good. I don't really have any head hunger, I just wish I felt better. I am working, and I do manage to walk about a mile a day. I gave myself shin splints from walking in the wrong shoes this week. I drink about 40 oz of water, it is very hard to get anymore into this body. It is getting better but this journey is not for the faint hearted.
Lisa, I, too, am in my 7th week now. For breakfast, I have had 1/2 cup cereal (I love frosted mini wheats) without milk. Milk doesn't bother me, but I like to eat the cereal dry. This morning for breakfast at work, I had 1/2 scoop of scrambled eggs and 3 think slices of bacon. Yummy. Yesterday, for lunch I tried a hot pocket.
I cut it in half then cut it into small pieces and had some steamed cauliflower. After about 3 bites of the pocket, I knew the breaded outside was going to give me problems. So I was able to eat the meat and cheese out of it and had about 3 bites of cauliflower. Last night at supper, my hubby had cooked some porkchops in the slow cooker. So I ate about 3 bites of one, 2 small baby carrots, a fork full of spinach and a small smidge of potato. Then I knew I had eaten too fast. After about 20 minutes, throwing up was the only alternative. So I did. I have lost 33 pounds but I weighed well over 300 lbs when I started. And I am not below 300 yet. I am told the protein is the most important thing to eat, then the vegetables, then starchy vegetable or fruit. I also get the "hollow, empty" feeling at times and when I do, I start sipping on water. It tends to feel up the empty spaces. Keep up the good work. We'll get there one day.
Lisa,, I just posted on the Texas board about food. I seem to hate it now.. nothing tastes good.. everything tastes like cardboard. I'm mostly surviving on string cheese, peanut butter and jerky.. everything else is awful.. soups are bad.. I don't like the chicken anymore.. I hate it .. I wanted to succeed at this.. but I don't want to starve to death!!! Water, protein and exercise.. those are the keys.. but what do you do when nothing tastes good.. and more than two bites makes you want to go throw up? Yep, I agree, not for the faint of heart.. but on the lighter side.. I'm down 45 lbs.. so I guess I can't complain. Went through the plateau thing for about three weeks and now the scale is moving .. Good luck all.. I'm still trying ~ Jan
Its so good to hear what other people are eating. Now I don't feel so wierd! My surgery date was 1/23/04 and I have lost 45 lbs so far. I have been really following doctor's orders on my food intake, and measure everything. I only eat 3 oz per meal, and then in between meals I am drinking skim milk, or water or yogurt. I measure everything I eat. I have found that I have to start and end the day with protein--milk or fat-free yogurt before bed, and I cannot do anything until I drink the milk in the morning. That is getting better, but I can't say that my meals are much to write home about. I try to get 2 oz of protein and then some kind of veggie or fruit. Sometimes when I am at the table I think I could eat more than the 3 oz, so I just get up and walk out. In a few minutes I don't want anything else.

Hi! I am 8 weeks out, and have lost 60 lbs. I did plateau for a couple of weeks, but am doing good again. (My doctor has his patients on liquid for 3 weeks after surgery, that's why I think I have lost so much.) Now that I am on stage 2, I eat chicken a lot. I have about 2 oz. I also can eat oatmeal, usually 1/4 of a packet. I eat one scrambled egg. I know it doesn't seem like a lot, but it satisfies me. I eat vegetarian chili, which has soy in it. It is really good. My doctor has not released me to eat lettuce yet, or raw vegetables. I also cannot eat beef, ham, bacon, or anything with seeds yet. (No cheese either...) I seem to be doing pretty good, and mostly try to eat lots of protein. The biggest part is water. I plateaued when I wasn't drinking enough water, so maybe you can try drinking more. I drink a lot of Crystal Light, and Diet Snapple. I watch out for sodium, and things with high sugar. Those are just a few suggestions. Hang in there, you will get on track!! Good luck!!!
