Help!!! I am not loosing!!
Tonia
I had my surgery a day before you, and I've only lost 30 pounds! I guess were doing alright and my doc doesn't seem to be concerned. You must stop the sweet tea,it will slow your weight loss. It's hard but I've trained myself too drink my tea and coffee with no sweetners, because I did not like the ones we can have.
Good luck and your doing great!

Tonia, I know how you feel. I wish I had some good advice, but i am in the same boat as you. I have lost nothing in 10 days, and am so frustrated...My surgery was 1/12, and am down 37 lbs, but feel like a failure when I hear those who have lost 50 lbs already... Thanks for posting, because I dont feel so alone now...Im so tired all the time as well; Are you?
Hi Tonia,
I had surgery the same day as you and am down about 35 pounds. I think you are doing wonderful. We all lose at different rates so please try not to be discouraged when you hear people have lost more. I know it is hard to do though. I try to look at it this way.....what other diet have you been on and lost 30-35 pounds in 6 weeks and KEPT it off?? For me that puts it in a different perspective.
Best wishes on your continues success!!
For every glass of tea (even sugar free) that you drink, you must drink three glasses of water to replace what the caffiene in the tea is removing. The caffiene in tea is a diuretic, so you could potentially be dehydrating yourself!! Better yet - - Get rid of the tea, especially if it is sweetened!
Next - - CONGRATULATIONS on your weight loss. WAY TO GO!! I had surgery on Jan 15 and am down 40 lbs as of Feb. 29. We all loose the weight differently, keep up the good work.
Tonia, my open rny was 1-27, and I am only down 25lbs. I am not worried. One thing I want to let you know is tea is not a good choice(especially sweet) because it absorbs vitamin b, and drinking large amounts will cause anemia. That is something we as bariatric patients struggle with anyway. If you can cut the tea out, I would. Lark Johnson
HI Tonia,
First I want to say, you are beautiful! I love you picture!
Second, I love tea too. I got some decafinated tea and sweeten it with sweet-n-low. However, if you like the sweet taste that sugar gives, get some Splenda. I bet you can not tell a difference! The only time I drink the fully leaded tea is when I eat out, but I still grab the pink stuff to sweeten it, it is what I did pre-op, so no change there. I am trying to get more water in, so I am doing water and some lemons or limes when I go out, still with the pink stuff. I have also enjoyed hot tea, especially in the evening. I found some decaf. for that as well, and splenda disolves so well in it.
Third, you weight loss is normal. As for those who have lost more, they probabley weighed more than you going into surgery. Remember alot of the first 30 pounds you lose, no matter who you are, is water, not fat. I am a perfect example. I weighed 420 the day of surgery, and I have lost ~57 pounds. (My surgery was one day after you) However that first 25-30 ponds was nothing but fluid! SO do not be down on yourself. Someone told me that the weight stops and goes on and on! Keep sticking to what you know is right and if you have any other concerns or questions, just write!

I have to tell you that I am so happy that you wrote what you did, when you did. I had surgery on the 14th of Jan. I have only lost 33 pounds. I was doing pretty good, so I thought. I haven't lost any weight in about 10 days....and I also feel like a failure. But looking at all of the responses you have received, it looks like we are doing pretty good after all. I just wanted you to know that you weren't alone, I'm right there with you sweetie, we will just keep on hanging in there.....we are already big losers...we will be giant losers before you know it. You take care and thanks again.....everyone..... Constance
