fruits and veggie's??
I am 6 weeks post-op, and I would love to have some fruits and veggie's, what ones can we have? the only thing my doctor told me was that I should not have raw veggie's, peas or corn. He didn't say anything about fruit. I'm dying for a salad when are we allowed to have lettuce? I have lost 30 pounds so far and I haven't lost any in a week, I'm sure it's my fault. I'm not getting in enough protein, and Iv not yet exercised! Sham on me!

I eat most cooked and mushy veggies. However very little, maybe a bite or two. Don't want to take away from getting my protein in.
I haven't really tried any fruit yet except Lite applesauce. They say you can also dump on the natural sugars, I'll get my courage up one of these days.
Good luck

I have eaten grapefruit with no problem, watermelon, catalopue but only take small bites. I can have any veggies I want except for lettuce for now. Still afraid to try it. It's not you fault about not losing for a week. I did the same thing and now I am losing again. It's hard getting in all that protein.

I am four weeks post op and I've recently tried bananas, strawberries, pineapple and grapes with no problems, but I do not eat the grape skins yet. The dietician in our program told us that fruits won't make you dump, but I would imagine there are some exceptions to that rule. Fruit is actually about the only thing that tastes good to me right now, but it's not good for getting protien in. I was told not to have raw veggies or anything other than iceberg lettuce until the six-week point. I am looking forward to that.
All the docs are so different. My doctor said I can't have raw fruits or veggies until 6 MONTHS! That is one of the hardest things about this. He also said no potatoes until at IBW. Really having a hard time coming up with different things to eat or ways to cook them. He said can't have beef, pork, pasta or rice for 6 months also. Any ideas? Thanks, Pat
