Hi Everyone, I'm still here too!! I sure hope we keep this going!! I'm 6 weeks out today and have lost 35 pounds. I can eat just about anything without problems. Having trouble getting my vitamins and calcium in though. I like the calcium but those Flintstone vitamins are gross. Am going to try a prescription prenatal chewable vitamin. Hope it goes better. How are you all doing on exercise? I'm not doing so good there either. Maybe when the weather warms up a bit more. I think it would help get the weight off a little faster. But all things considered, I am doing well with no problems as of yet. Keep up the great job everyone!!

Hi, I wasn't on the internet yesterday, so this is a late post. I did read a book yesterday! At least that tells me I still have a mind. I lost 30 pounds as of yesterday and 9.5 inches, this is what my doctor recorded during my visit. My staples finally came out last night. I'm going back to work on Monday. I can eat ham, chicken, cheese, low-carb yogurt , ritz crackers, cooked carrots, mashed potatoes, shrimp, fish and peanut butter. I really have very little appetite and the thought of food is often nauseating. I have problems with mood swings since the surgery, and I am not interested in sex. But I am determined to get through this phase without anti-depressants. I try to walk at least a mile a day. I am cold since the surgery so I do a lot of walking at the mall. Glad to see you are all doing so well, this is going to be a great summer for all of us!

Wow, 56lbs., that's terrific!!!!!!!!!! I had lap-band surgery on 1/30 and have lost 31 lbs. I don't have many problems with food, except if I eat too quickly. My goal is actually to look good by next November. My husband and I will be married 25 years and we are taking a family cruise with all of our children then. I am looking forward to summer though, for all of the outdoor activities. Keep up the great work everyone! Lonnie

Hello! I had a LAP RNY on 1/19 and I'm doing well! I'm only weighing in every few weeks, so as of a week and a half ago, I was down 25lbs from 250 (I am 5'2"). I am exercising about 3-4 times a week on an elliptical machine at my gym -- loving it! I am able to tolerate just about everything, but I am just not at all interested in most carbs -- they fill me up so fast and just make me feel BLAH - bloated! So, hallelujah, I have just avoided them! Nothing sweet even appeals to me ( I have found enough sf stuff to nip that one, I think!) However, my new issue is that I've just become, well, bored with eating. DID I JUST TYPE THAT!!!??? Yep, I have had that "rock-in-the-middle-of-my-chest" feeling too many times from eating too fast and not chewing enough....I know, I know. I should just relax and do what I need to. But I'm finding that because I don't really feel HUNGRY, I am just avoiding the food all together -- getting the water in (for the most part) and choking down my (UGH!) protein shakes/powder but I could not care less about food right now! Not good, eh? ANYBODY else in this phase (and I AM hoping it's just a phase!)? Maybe I'm doing a little bit of hibernating again? I'm so glad to know that you all are with me in this change! Jennifer

Well, Not to many hot thoughts here! LOL Just kidding. I am 5 weeks out, I had my surgery 1/15/04 and am now down 36 lbs as of this morning. I started going to the gym 3 weeks ago, and I am now up to 30 mins on the elipiglider, then I do resistance trainging. I do the cardio five days a week, and the weight trainging 4 days a week alternating upper body and lower body. I do abs every day though. Yet, since I started going to the gym, my weight loss has slowed so much, only about a pound every 3-4 days. O' well, I can see a difference in my inches. I am doing well with food, but like most of you, I am bored with eggs for breakfast all the time. I have a protein bar when I can for breakfast. My blender broke, so I haven't made any protein shakes, but I am still fitting in 50-60 grams of protein a day. I am taking my vitamins and calcium, and Vitamin B-12 every day plus, about 70 oz of water. Plus I have some warm tea so that is another 8 oz of liquid. Working out every day helps get alot of the water in. I drink about 32 oz in 1 1/2 hours at the gym. Which helps alot!!!!! I can't wait to lose more, I have about 75 more pounds to go. Now for the HOT TOPIC!!! LOL This summer my family and I are going to Florida to visit my mom and sisters. I am so excited about this. I have been the largest sister forever, and when I get down there this summer, I will be the smallest! Plus, I will get to go to the beach! Go to an amuesment park, and to a water park. I am even looking forward to racing my dear husband on the go carts there! I am so ready to have a blast in Florida instead of hiding, and letting the kids all go with their father, or aunts! Now it is my turn, and I am gonna turn up the heat!!! hee hee! I can't wait to flirt with my husband, and not feel like ugggg!

Hello! First of all congrats on your weight loss! That is alot! You should be pround of yourself! Today I am 5 weeks post-op and I am down 30 pounds. I had open RNY on 1/21/04 and I can eat chicken, pork, fish turned me off, eggs, crackers, sugar free pudding, eggs, cheese. I have been drinking protein shakes as well. I found these great ones from www.bariatriceating.com they have alot of great flavors and you can purchase samples so this way you get to try it before you but a whole can. My incision has healed wonderfully it is still sore here and there! But otherwise I am feeling great . I have alot of energy and I am off all of my diabetes medication. I started the treadmill last week. My Dr. doesnt want you to really exercise until 4 weeks out you can do cardio and then 6 weeks out start stregth training. Other than that everything is great! I did hit a plateau for 2 weeks but now that i am moving around it is coming off. I did'nt think you could hit one so quickly after surgery but your body changes . Well that is about it here. I wish every one the best and keep up the good work! Summer is around the corner! Take care and god bless! MaryJo

Everyone is amazing! I think we are the bravest people I have ever heard of. Well, not as brave as people who hid Jews during WWII, or persecuted Christians, or those who beat cancer, but you all know what I mean. My surg date was the 21st. I don't have a scale, but at my 4 week check up I had lost 30 pounds. My goals: fit in an airline seat for a Texas family reunion in June. Teach my 4 year old how to jump rope this spring (will it EVER come?). Have a collar bone. Be able to cross my legs. Be healthy. What am I eating?: trying things out as I go. Just went through PMS and had the munchies. I nibbled all day long and felt guilty, but when I figured what it all amounted to at the end of the day, it was barely a full pre-op meal. I'm going through a phase now where I want everything to be spicey, and mexican-ish. Plain chicken and pork have both made me sick and I'm not in too much of a hurry to try those again. At my 2nd week I was LONELY for food. I felt like I was missing a friend. Now I'm fine. I'm sure I'll go through phases, but I am glad that I have made this monumental decision and I thank God for His provision.

Congrats on the big lose. I had open RNY on January 26th. I'm down 21 lbs. I can finally tolerate foods like chicken, cheese, turkey, watermelon, cantalope and refried beans. Other than that I'm still learning what I can eat or not eat. What makes me sick is eggs, cant eat them in any shape or form. LOL. My goal is to be half my size before my birthday in June goal weight for June is 140lbs. Linda
