Has anyone had problems with constipation? I am 6 weeks post-op and have not had a BM for 4 days. And I really don't feel like I Need to go, I just think that I SHOULD go. Any suggestions on how to get things moving? Prune juice ? MOM? Stoolsoftener/laxative? Thanks for your help.

Hi, I'm four weeks out of surgery. I use stool softners that my Dr gave me. I would call your Dr and see what type of over the counter stool softner you should get. I still have problems going.... like you. Good luck linda

Hi Meleta, I've been told to use good ole MOM when times get like that. Also I've heard that people use Benefiber, It would be best to check with your doctor. One thing that works for some people is a glass of warm water I think I'll stick to MOM!! I hope things get moving for you!! Kristin

I dont know if you are drinking protine shakes. but it seems to work wonders for me. that is if i drink it fast... if i drink it slow it still helps just doesnt make me want to go an hour later... Good Luck. and God Bless Teri

I've had the same problem and here I am 9 weeks out with the same problem. My surgeon recommended colase, its a stool softner and laxative. Unfortunately without it I never go anymore, so I take it two to three times a week. It works pretty good. Ask you doctor if you can take it before trying it. Good luck!!!
