I thought I was losing my mind

Hi. I had an open rny done on Jan.7. I had an epidural for pain . I woke up screaming for help the first night because I was having a nightmare and didn't have any idea where I was. The second night I hallucenated like crazy and thought I was on a ship and it was rocking and rolling . The third night I saw dreadful imagines in a painting on the wall in front of my bed. To say I was terrified is not strong enough a word. I was paranoid and delusional even after I returned home. It was a terrible time and I really would have prefered to die then go through it. No exageration. I was sick with vomiting and diarreah most of the hospital stay. I am wondering if anyone has had these things happen? I am still troubled about what I saw and wish I could forget it. Someday maybe. Thanks for listening Linda Jenkins

Some people have reactions to the anesthesia....or any of the other things we get in the hospital that we are not used to. I had a couple of nightmares when I "dozed off" a couple times myself. Now since I have been home on pureed foods I am having different types of nightmares. I woke up one day last week after dreaming I was sitting on the backstep with a bowl of crunchberry cereal...picking out the crunchberries and eating them like when I was a kid. Tell me I don't want some sugar and to chew! I think you will quit thinking about the nightmares and they will fade as you get busy with your life and reading more about things to help you with your new tool. It was just your brain........on drugs.
