For constipation I was told to us Milk of Magnesia, or supositories. Ohhh what a relief. I don't think I will ever get use to going 1 or 2 times a week. Your skin may get better after you can get more liquids in. Good luck. Dawn -37

Lorraine.. I have been slathering on oil and lotion till I feel like a greased pig.. and so far although I feel dehydrated sometimes.. I seem to be doing good.. just drink as much water as possible for your stage of the game.. Maybe if it is really severe you need to contact you PCP or your surgeon.. YEA for the 22 lbs.. way to go ~ Jan

Hi Lorraine! This is a very common problem! I am just over six weeks, and as I was able to get in more and more fluids, the dryness went away for the most part, and I am much less dehydrated! Just give it time, it will get better! I find that I have a *small* bowel movement around every 24-36 hours, and it is pretty regular. This again has to do with re-hydrating your body in time, as you are able to take-in more fluids. There is an excellent article in this quarter's Obesity Help Magazine, which describes our new pouches as working similar to a "funnel", where fluids can pass through easily, while foods build up and create the full feeling. I was really enlightened by this article, and I strongly recommend to everyone to subscribe to the mag - it's really terrific One special note - when I was finally able to get in my full amount of fluids, I gained 4 pounds of water weight in only two days! It was at this time that my skin stopped being dry, etc., and was a natural reaction for your body to rehydrate itself. But - thankfully, the water weight dropped right back off, and I continued losing - yay! God bless you, Lorraine - and keep it up!

Lorraine.....I had surgery the same day you did......and under Dr's orders I take 2 colace (stool softeners) daily........I go daily in the morning.....Colace can usually be found as a store brand......(much cheaper), and it is something that your body will not become dependent on.
