I am six weeks post op and thought it would be nice to have a little fish. I had a few ounces of salmon and about thirty minutes later I got a sharp pain under my left breast. I think it must be stuck, is their anything I can do to relieve the discomfort, I would really like to get some sleep. Thanks for any advice.

HI, I have had that feeling after eating chicken. It is probably not stuck, you are just really full, and you feel solid foods more than you do liquids. Try to drink some water to help flu**** through. Make sure it is really cold, that has helped me at times. If the pain does not greatly subside in a few hours, then try to eat something. SOunds crazy, but you kinda want to help push things through in a way. If still nothing helps, then go to the meat tenderizers and water mix, the rooto rooter solution, but use it as a last result, even after calling the good ole doc. ALso make sure that when you eat you are sitting up real straight and eating slowly. I have realized that when I slouch or eat tooo fast, I get that feeling you are having. Hope this helps, email me with more questions. Sorry I just got your post and could not respond sooner. KRistal

I had the same problem with crackers and drinking a little water really helped me. Hope you feel better soon. Lonnie

Yup I agree with the other replies. You are "FULL" or you ate too fast. Don't give up on the salmon, it is one of the best fish for you. Best of luck, Dawn -37

Hi Christine! This is again a very common problem, and it is usually associated with eating too fast, or taking too large of a bite. Remember, the new opening to your pouch (the stoma) is very small, and it is imperative that your bites are tiny, and are chewed VERY VERY thoroughly, to a liquid consistency. This type of pain will pass as the food is passed on to the intestine - don't panic. Just remember, when eating, take VERY SMALL bites. I know this may seem very silly, but I happen to use baby utensils to eat with. No bite is ever larger than will fit WITHIN a baby spoon. This makes it easier to chew everything to a very liquidy consistency. Remember, your insides were operated on, and new joins were made - so you are still tender and healing. Be extra kind to your body during this time God bless you, and keep it up!
