Did anyone have trouble with diaherra after surgery?

Hi, my name is Lonnie. I had lap-band surgery three weeks ago. I am having a problem with extremely loose bowel movements. One morning, I awoke to find that I had had a bought of diaherra while I slept. I contacted the doctor and he told me to take over the counter medication for it. This helped but I find that I still have a problem and don't want to take medication every day. Has anyone had this problem and if so, how did you deal with it?

I had very similar problems. I'm 5 weeks out now and I still have a slight problem with it. My doctor put me on a flagel and it worked while I was on it but as soon as it was over I started to get diarrhea again. Then they just told me to take imodium and that's what I did for a long time. It did help and some days were much worse than others, but for the most part I don't have too much of a problem with it. I know it's hard, I was just praying it would end. If it doesn't get any better with the over the counter medication I would call the surgeon again. Good luck and I hope you feel better! -Monika

I had my surgery and matter of fact I have had diaherra all day today. My first 3 weeks after surgery that was the only way I had bowel movements!!! I have to travel 7 miles to get to school and there are time I almost didn't make it because it hit me when I get on the highway. About 4 weeks I had solid bms but today I don't know what happened

Have you thought about lactose intolerance? There are pills for it so you might try them or mix your protein with something other than milk and see what happens. I understand a lot of wls patients become lactose intolerant after surgery.
