Went for my 1wk postop and had lost 13lbs. The shakes are getting old fast. Broke down last night and cryed. My husband had cooked fried pork chops, biscuits and gravy. It smelt sooo good. I wasn't hungry but depressed I guess. Oh, well today is better. Pat

Hi, I am two weeks post op for lap banding. I lost 14 lbs the first week and then stopped losing for a few days. My doctor told me to not drink my calories and he did not encourage the protein drinks. I have found that i can eat baked potatoes at Wendy's which helps. They will give you ranch or melted cheese for the plain potatoe. Any mashed potatoes goes down fine. I also found that cottage cheese is a life saver. I am also having the same trouble with the family mealtime. I have children from 2 - 20 and I am always cooking for them. This is really hard and the thing that it makes you realize is that the food thing is not just about not being hungry. It is love and family time. How to go out and eat when you can not get any of your meal down is really disturbing. I have found that Cracker Barrel has a nice 2.49 chicken and rice soup. They will add a baked potatoe to your husband's entry for .99. This at least allows you to go out. I can have beef stew with the family as long as I do not eat beef and the potatoes and carrots are mushy and well done. Beef and noodles over mashed potatoes allows me to eat with them also (I skip the beef). Have you tried a cheese enchilada? Some of these might help. My family had cauliflower soup with me yesterday and they seemed to survive - at least I am trying to get them to eat less with me. Good Luck and i can easily say that the Extreme Makeover people are not talking for six weeks for a reason!! Good Luck. Jackie Jorgensen [email protected]
