Hey guys, had a lap on 2/2, have done pretty good thus far, except yesterday, the gas is reeking havock on me, I had to take my pain medicines and lay flat, and pray that it would stop. I finally drifted off to sleep, but I was almost in tears. Has anyone else had pains this bad?

I haven't, but two people in my support group did right about the same time post op as you and they both used suppositories (on the doctor's advice) and said it worked wonders!

Rebecca-I had bad gas pains and my doc said I could take chewable gas-x or mylanta gas. I did and it helped. Also, I had to get up and walk a lot and stopped using a straw. Hope this helps. Pat 1/29/04 RNY-lab

My gas pains were bad for the first 3 weeks. You can take gas-X to help a little. But I have found that gas will be a regular happening now. Good luck and take care. Dawn -32

Rebecca, I too, had HORRIBLE gas pains! I had surgery on 1-21 and they were awful - nothing worked, not gasx, not bm's - nothing. Then I discovered that it was the pain meds that were causing it. I stopped the meds and within 12 hours my gas pain was gone. SUCH a relief! I don't know if this will work for you - but it did for me. I also used a heating pad on my tummy for brief relief. Take care - Barbie

Hey guys! The best advice I got was from my grandmother-(they are always right) Hot tea, no sugar and no sweetener and just sip away!
