Okay. I had my Lap RNY on 1/19, so I'm almost 3 weeks post op. I SWEAR that I read something - possibly even on here someplace! - about our post-op bodies going into a type of "hibernation" around the third week....something about our bodies freaking out about the "starvation" (ie: liquid diet) we are putting it through and the body just wanting to shut down until things resume as normal... HA! I am just feeling SOOO tired these past few days, and my WEIGHT ISN'T BUDGING! I lost 20 lbs. by my 2 week check up, and I don't feel like I've lost anything since! I just really DO want to crawl in bed! ANd I've been feeling, up till now, really good! Exercising and everything.... any ideas!?? I just thought I might find someone here who has heard of this! Thanks so much Jen

I posted about the same concern a couple days ago. I lost 28 lbs. in the first two weeks and haven't lost any thing in the last 8 days. I called my doctor and his nurse told me this is normal. The weight loss will resume soon. (I sure hope so )

If at all possible, try to stay active. The hibernation syndrome can also bring on some pretty good depression too. My booklet says this is quite common and usually only lasts about 2 weeks. If it persists, call your doctor. It is the body saying to us that it wants the old ways back.

HI Jen I lost 28 lbs in the first 10 days and then only 7lbs in 3 weeks. They say that the first weight loss is usually BIG because of fluid. Keep your chin up! Things will move along. Carolyn

I have been told that we have to keep up with the protein and water for the weight lost and also the protein will help give us energy. It's worth a try. I will be at the 3wk mark so at least I know now this might happen. Pat

WOW you guys.. I'm doing the same thing.. have stayed at the same weight for several days now.. I know it will be ok soon.. but for now I think I'll stop trying to weigh everyday.. cause it sure looks bad on that old scale.. but the good thing is that my inches are incredible.. and I found a treadmill for 25 today at a sale.. so I'm keeping up the exercise and going forward.. still having an awful time with the water.. just can't get enough in.. tomorrow is another day so I'll try again.. let me know when the dry spell breaks.. I'll be hoping for all of you and me too ~ Jan
