needed blood after surgery

hi, i had an open rny 1-27-04. i needed to received two units of blood 2 days post op and prolonged my hospital stay to 6 days. i would like to hear from others that had this similar experience. thanks, Lark

Hi, Lark. I had a similar experience with my recent rny on 1/22/04. I received two units of blood while in the operating room and then had two more while in the ICU two days later. I had frequent small complications after the surgery which extended my hospital stay to 14 days with four of those in the intensive care unit. I am a little worried about the blood, although I do trust in the safety as close to 100% as it can get, but there is always that small amount of worrying that goes along with such things. I am just taking things one day at a time and hope you do the same because although you have had a rough time, you are still on your way to being the same person on the outside that you are on the inside.
