I can't stand the protein shakes that I have tried. I am a little over a week post op (1-26-04) and am on a soft diet for 4weeks. Meat is out of the question because the only way I can have it right now is pureed...yes that nasty nursing home quality of food. HELP! Has anyone tried that new Whey Fruity protein...sounds kinda like kool-aid?? Let me know please! Angela open-rny 1-26 -22lbs and counting!

Hey Angela, I use the Atkins Protein shakes. My friend told me to pour the shake in the blender with Ice and it makes something simular to a Wendy's frosty! I love it! Try that. My friend uses the Whey Fruity Protein and loves it. I personally have not tried it yet. Good Luck, Wanda

My doc has me on carnation SF breakfast everyday, very tolerable with the right milk, (hood carb countdown is great) and the protein shake I can tolerate is Spiru-tein by Natures way with the milk it's 22 grams. I like it the best, everything else makes me.....well. I like wonton broth and oatmeal for women is good too. I can't do whey at all, only Soy. Marcy 1/20/04 RNY-Lap

Angela (don't even ask why I am here) , I just ordered some Unjury in chocolate and vanilla and I love it. It is not thick like atkins or carb solutions. Makes great chocolate milk. I am trying out some things now so I will be prepared. I have samples of the Whey fruity ordered, but they have not come yet. I'll let you know what I think if I ever get them. Joy (3/1)

Hi Angela, Try Isopure Zero Carb ready to drink bottles - order at www.LoseforLess.com I ordered the variety pack and although they cost about $3 per bottle, they are worth it! They taste like kool-aid. And, they have 40 gms of protein. I sip on it all day and have so much energy. You order today and they will have them to you in a few days - super quick service. I sound like I work for them, but believe me, they beat the powder stuff. I also drink the Atkins shakes. They are good, but half the protein (20gms) for the same calories. Cindy

Cindy I just found the Isopure drinks yesterday. All I can is THANK GOD! I was sooo disgusted by all of the shakes, but this is just like regular juice, not chalky at all. I totally agree, I sound like a walking advertisement, but they are so good! Glad someone else has had good luck with them too! -Monika

I just bought one of the premixed 100% Whey protein drinks from GNC. It has 40 grams of protein in 22 oz. and the one I purchased is cherry berry flavored. It is drinkable, and not clumppy, but I don't really care for it that much. It seems sort of syrupy to me, but when I checked it only has 1 g of sugar?? I Prefer the Unflavored whey protein from GNC in the powder form mixed with sugar free tang and ice in a shaker.

Angela - try Designer Protein - it is the BEST - comes in vanilla, choc,. and strawberry taste is great also has high protein - if you have a nutrition warehouse by you they have already in can shakes that are very good too. I had my surgery open RNY on January 23, 2004 and am doing great. Hope you are too. Debbie A.

I'm having a hard time with the protein shakes too. Have tried many kinds and flavors. What works best for me is an unflavored whey powder mixed with skim plus milk and 1 Tbs of Herheys Lite syrup. I use ProCel which I get from www.vitalady.com but probably any kind would do. The Hershey's Lite syrup is REAL chocolate which I like. It does have about 10 g of sugar in 1 Tbs but I haven't had a problem with that. 1 Tbs is 25 calories. Since I'm doing the protein shakes only once a day now, it seems like a small price to pay for making the shake tolerable. I think I'm going to try freezing some of the skim milk into ice cubes and then putting it in the blender to make it more like a real milk shake.

If you have a Vitamin Shoppe nearby they also carry the Zero Carb Isopure.
