re: There's no Place like Home
Surgery Monday 1/26.
I got home from the hospital Wednesday. I had Laproscopy Surgery.
1st of all, I love my own bed. Second I had the longest and best shower of my whole life this morning. Gosh did it feel marvelous to wash my hair. My belly is a little tender where the drain was and my arm is a little sore where the intervenous was. Other than that I should be roller bladeing by Saturday. !!NOT!! Throat is still tender where that GODZILLA DR. from hell put the NG tube. Boy did that hurt. If I hadn't been strapped down I probably would have snatched her up. I am not usually a big sissy. I was up & walking in 5/6 hours. I was getting kinda figety. Evidently anesthia doesn't have the same effect on me as it does on others. I didn't want any blood clots. I keep hearing the people in my support group in the back of my brain saying walk, walk, walk, even in my sleep.
I am a little pissed off, Sven, the massuse never showed up to give Tina & I our massages. I guess the snow & ice held him up. I had all the nurses in the hospital laughing. LOL I've graduated to jello & cranberry juice and my protein drink. Yippie. This is going to be an interesting journey. Food is actually the farthest thing from my mind right now. Don't miss it at all.
The nurses were really wonderful. Except the admitting nurse #1 that said that they probably wouldn't find a good vein in my arm (insinuating I was a little FAT). I was on gaurd. RRRRR. But nurse #2 found it 1st ***** HA HA. We showed her.
Dr. Irgau Dr. Wynn & Dr. Brett Gordon are absolutely the best. Their
competency bed-side manner and concern were key to surgery. Couldn't have done it without them and The Good Lord guiding us.
My Angel, Leigh, came to my rescue with her Bariatric Bear Tummy Buddy. To hold while walking and coughing. The hospital is so dry I had a lot of sniffing and nose blowing going on. Finally got some nose spray as I was being discharged. The Christiana Hospital is not a 5 star hotel.
Charlie did pretty good. He was more tired than I was. Poor guy. All that worry. He didn't know how tough I was. He is definetly a keeper. God love him.
And with that I will TT you all later. My Delaware support Group is wonderful. e-mails and phone calls kept coming in while I was there. Each day is a little better.
I only have 1 piece of advice. Nothing to worry about but the unknown. Have the faith and confidence in yourself and your Dr.s to stay calm & focused. ((HUGS)) God Bless Elissa
Good luck Tracy. I have had 2 miracles already. #1 my knees don't hurt. I knew it as soon as I took my 1st walk around the nurses station the 1st night. #2 My wedding rings are already spinning around my finger. Yipee!! Keep up the good work sweetie. I love the Baloons in your profile. Awesome.
