I survived! but having a hard time sleeping
Had surgery on Jan 21, came home last night after five days. I feel a bit green and I hurt but the insision looks ok and I really am doing alright. It was terrible cause church people brought casseroles and one smelled so good. I wasn't hungry but it did smell good. I took some of the broth from one and blended it and a couple of swallows was enough to satisfy me.
I am having a hard time sleeping at night. Switch chairs or sofas every few hours. Can't seem to get comfortable anywhere. My bed is comfy but I can't get out of it!
Happy to be a weight loss surgery

pat...I totally connect with the church thing. One woman send pork steaks, scalloped potatoes, glazed green beans and CHOCOLATE CAKE for tonight! They don't know my diet restrictions, but how hard was it to drink beef broth while my family ate that? And then I put away the leftovers while that girls were in the bath. Torture. I felt weakness while the drainage tube was still in my stomach. Will I be able to controll myself when I am feeling well? This may sound crazy, but is there somewhere by your comfy bed where you can tie a strong rope to pull yourself out in the morning? Also, maybe if you can get your feet rolled out before you, you could get out of the bed backwards? That way you might be able to push up with your arms. My surgery was on the 21st, too.

It will get easier. Getting out of bed and changing positions is the worst part. I found that my pain was actually better relieved with Extra Strength Tylenol.
Church people can be a curse and a blessing. Sounds like you need to get the word out that you're on a very restricted diet and ask people to send cards and pray for you instead of sending food.
Try using lactose free milk for a day or so and see if your uncomfortable gas gets better. I had horrible gas cramps in the hospital and when I got home my husband got me some lactaid. I use it to mix up sugar free pudding, canation instant, etc, and now the gas is completely gone. Hooray for women in the church! One sent a helium baloon along with my family's meal, and everyone has been playing with it, even the cats.
