Just a week to go
Hi everyone. I am new to this group. I will be having surgery on 1/29/04.
I think I am pretty well prepared for the day of my new beginning. If anyone can tell me what to expect as far as how I will feel that first week I would really appreciate it. Everyone talks about what they will eat or drink as the case may be, but not how you will physically feel. Will I be in pain constantly or will I be up and moving around with just some soreness. I like to know what I am in for. If you can help I would really appreciate it. To everyone I would like to say congrads on your new beginning. With all of the fine doctors out there we are being given a great tool to helps us improve our lives. Speedy recovery to all.
From what I've read on here in the Q&A board, everyone's different. Some people that were very active prior to surgery are up and about, while others take it easy. Just be sure to walk some every couple of hours to avoid blood clots. Just do what YOU feel able to do, and don't compare to others. I will be having surgery on 1/30/04, so I'll be recuperating with ya. Soon we'll be HOT MAMA's after we lose our weight See ya on the losing side. Rebecca Mulligan
Hi Linda,
I'm scheduled for the 29th as well. We're all different, so it's hard to say what to expect. Mine is going to be a LAP, so I'm hoping that'll make the recovery a little easier. Who know, we'll just have to wait and see. I had a bad case of nerves this morning, but am doing alright tonight. We're in this together!

Hi Linda.
My surgery was 1/13/04. I am now 10 days post op and 12 lbs lighter. I fell great. I followed the Dr. directions. I had no problems at all. I got lots of rest, I was in very little pain and was able to walk up and down stairs, slowly of course. It must be the pain medicine. By day 4 I was forgetting to take the pain medicine. While in the hospital my most discomfort was from gas. Once I got up, which was the next day, that problem was solved. Just remember to eat and chew slowly.
