Hi everyone i'm 6 days post op. I feel a lot better then before, but I just feel like crying, I dont hurt or anything, Just feel blah! I know that all the water, broth and jello is getting to me big time. I mean I feel like eating a piece of chicken, cottage cheese, something other than what my Dr wants me to have for 2weeks. I dont know if I will be able to make it the full 2 weeks. Has anyone out there gone thru something like this, If so, please talk to me. My husband is wonderful but, can only do so much. thank you, Perla

Dear Perla: I'm going to the hospital for surgery tomorrow morning so I have been thinking about that issue and wow!! it will be dificult but not impossible, keep in mind your well being , right now you can't eat anything other than the broth, jello, and water but it will gradually get better. Hang in there, take one step at a time think about all that you have achieved so far and DON'T GIVE UP! I know others have been there and have overcome the anxiety and sadness, YOU CAN TOO!! And one more thing keep talking, I think it is the best medicine, talk, talk and talk. Hope you feel better soon. HUGSSSSSS~~~CELINES

Perla, I know what you are dealing with we are in the same boat right now. I'm 13 days post opt. The jello think is If I ever see Bill Cosby I'm going to hit the man with a box of jello ! I'm drinking as much as I can. I'm ready to eat something also that I should not have either. I can't say that I'm hungry, I just miss something to chew!!!!! This is what I have done and maybe I should not have, I bought beef jerky and just chewed it and spit it out, It did help me. We will get threw this one day at a time. It will get better, Day 6 for me was bad also , all I did was cry!!! Kristin

Hi Perla I know how you feel. I am 15 days post-op and am going insane on this pureed diet. I just want something, anything that I am not supposed to have. BUT, I try to think of the positive benefits. I lost 23lbs in 10 days. Still, have you ever noticed that all they show on TV is food??? I guess I just never realized it before!! Take Care! Carolyn

Skim Milk and Sugar free carnation isnot on my list of things to drink, I can have water, jello, broth, and there is only so much of those things that a person can have before getting sick of it all.

Perla, Just try to keep reminding yourself of why you had the surgery. I totally can relate to you. I can have the skim milk and carnation but I don't care for them. I had the okay to have cream soups yesterday and had some tomato soup that tasted wonderful. I can't have pureed food til 2/3 so I have a ways to go to. Also, the emotional part is quite normal from what I hear. I broke down at the doctors office yesterday. I have several other times too so don't feel bad. Keep your chin up and remember it will all be worth it!
