Collecting from State disability

Hello everyone, I am just wondering if anyone out there had a problem collecting from State disability while they were out of work for their surgery. My husband is a state worker and had his surgery on 12/16/03. He is worried about getting his payment from disability because he still has not received anything yet. He is not sure if they will consider this surgery as an illness since its a person's individual choice to have the surgery done. If anyone knows anything about state disability please let me know. thanks! Annalisa
