I had my surgery on 1/9/04 and feel great except for losts of gas pain. How long does this usually last? I am also concerned about eating enough or too much. Right now I can have full liquids advancing to pureed food next week after my post op visit. It is amazing to read what everyone else is eating but you say nothing about quanity or how often you eat. I feel like I am constantly sipping water or protein drinks with an ocassional ounce of Cream of Rice Cereal or pudding. Any other suggestions.

I am 9 days post op! I have been eating sugar free pudding, sugar free popsicles, sugar free jello, cottage cheese, chicken broth from chicken noodle soup minus the noodles, sugar free ice cream, fat free yogurt and grits, oh yeah mashed potatoes. I am having a hard time drinking enough. I think! I feel as if I am depriving myself, because I don't know what to do?!?!?!? What about you ??? I have lost 18 lbs! Wendy

I had my surgery on 1/6/04 and I also feel great. My gas pains from surgery are gone but I have lots of gas or air bubbles or something when I drink, it constantly come up and it is loud. I am trying to find ways to keep this from happening but have heard it is common. I am on full liquids for 4 weeks. I am so envious of the people who are aloud to have pureed foods after 1 or 2 weeks. My doctor does four weeks for more rapid weight loss. I am to drink a total of 64 oz per day and make sure I get 70gm of protein a day. I am to have a 4 oz protien shake for breakfast, a 4 oz protein shake for lunch, a 3:00 snack (2oz) of either: Danon Light Done Right Yogurt, Healthy Choice Creamed soups, strained, or cottage cheese) and then a 4 oz protein shake for supper and another snack of the foods above in the evening. I mostly drink Propel or water put I can have any sugar free drink, water, propel or Diet V8 splash. I long to eat real food but I know I can do it and am already seein the difference in my clothes. I have lost 16 pounds altogether. It is amazing to see how the diets are so different (and sometimes tempting for me to try foods that I know other people are eating--but I am too afraid too) Kelley
