3 more days!! Anyone have any advice on how to calm my nerves??
My surgery date is January 16th and I was wondering if anyone had any advice on how to calm my nerves. I have a wonderful supportive husband and 2 young children. My oldest son which is 5 today...the 13th of January...has a lot of questions on why I am going to be gone for a couple of days and it is really hard to answer his questions at times.

Hi Pam,
All the best to you. The only advice I can offer is to pray for patience. I was a little nervous too just before my surgery, but I worked until the day before to keep my mind off it. And I was home before I knew it, I was only in the hospital 3 days. I have to say that having surgery was the best decision I ever made for myself. My life is so much better now. I had my surgery 6 months ago, I was 340 the morning of surgery and I'm about 245 now. One piece of advice for post-op. Don't weigh yourself every day, you'll make yourself nuts watching the scale. I did that right after surgery and it was depressing when I didn't see a loss. Once I stopped and left it up to God the weight just melted away. I'll pray for you.

Pam,
I also have small children 3 of them, I just had surgery on Jan 7th, They did miss me, But I told them that I would be ok and I would see them in a few days. As for the nerves it's hard to be calm, just try. It will make things much better for you on your surgery day. Just keep in mind and make a list of all the things you want to do with your kids after surgery. Run around in the park, so swimming, ect. Surgery is NOT easy, but it WILL pay off in the long run.

Good luck honey!! I am 9 days post-op. I have lost a total of 18lbs and I am really excited and so glad that I chose to have this surgery. I had mine done on Jan 5, 04 and it was like being reborn. I am so excited! I have a 7 year old son whom I didn't see for a couple of days because I wanted to remain sane. But my parents took care of him and he understood that I was going to be fine. Calming the nerves....HMMMMMMMMM when I got to the hospital and had to wait since I had to be there at 5:30 am and my surgery wasn't until 2pm they gave me a valum. Thank god! I was a nervous wreck and I wanted it to just hurry up and be over with. Be prepared not to be able to do much when you come home with your children as far as bending over, cleaning up after them, getting in the floor, etc...But you will do fine and you will feel good again quickly. I feel as if I am having a speedy recovery. I feel great and I am not on any pain meds anymore
GOOD LUCK
Wendy
