My surgery went ok, but the pain meds didn't. It felt like I wasn't taking any at all on my op day and 1st po. When I cont to report it the next day I finally got some where. He added Toridol. That stuff was great. I was able to get up and walk and tolerate the GI films. For me the low back pain wasn't so bad it was the Lt shoulder pain that was worse. I couldn't lift my arm very well and the pain was horrible. Then Weds the pain went away. I got real bloated with gas and he ( yes the Dr!) gave me a enema. He put me on my Lt side and head down. I was so uncomfortable every where that I didn't notice that pain had gone away!

that pain in your left shoulder was from all the gas they pump into you. I am glad you are feeling better. Tanya rny 1/5/04

Yes a lot of people do not realize the pain that you can have in numerous areas of your body from the gas that they pump into your body during surgery. The pain in your shoulder was from the gas. This is why it is VERY IMPORTANT to walk walk walk in the hospital when you become able to. They stressed this to me and I walked as soon as I got that feeling of wanting to get up which was about 3 hours after surgery and out of recovery! Good luck Wendy 247/229 9 days post-op
