1-28 surgery off - another speed-bump

Just got a bit of disappointing news, but nothing to get totally whacked about: Dr. Lane's assistant at the hospital called and said that my health care will only pay 70% since BTC/Dr. Lane are not "in-network" (gee, wish they'd've told me this at the start......sheesh...). This would make MY out-of-pocket exactly $10,500 for the surgery. Unless the Lord sends a ton of green manna from heaven . and has it fall directly into my savings account, I can't do it. I called the insurance company before they closed for the weekend, and the folks there are always great to deal with, even if they don't tell me what I want to hear. They explained that I need to find a Dr. to do the surgery who's "in-network" at an "in-network" facility, which would reduce my costs to around $3,000, which was what I kind of figured it would cost me. I've already found several possibilities, but now I have to wait 'til Monday to call them all -- the boss ain't gonna like this a bit! I'm hoping they'll say "Oh, goody...a pre-approved patient! Sign her up QUICK!!! Get that woman into a gown NOW and slam that IV into her arm!", but with this maddening process, I doubt that'll happen. This process is not for sissies. Not a problem, or a big one, anyway. Just a bit more time and effort needed -- and prayer! So, if ya would, couldja turn the prayer-channel to "find this girl a Dr. to do this without putting her through it all over again"??? Hehehe... The GOOD part of this (I can ALWAYS find GOOD stuff in crappy situations...it's a gift the Lord gave me!) is that I don't have to CRAM CLEAN the house this weekend and get my will and personal papers in order like I was going to have to do. Hey, that's a GREAT thing! I HATE cleaning, and wasn't in the mood for the personal stuff...so this temporary speed-bump is actually a blessing in disguise, see? Anyway, I guess my 1-28 date was just the trial run, and now when I get a REAL date, I'll be prepared, right?

I am so sorry about that. Remain strong and find a Surgeon in your network. I know that this is a disappointment but things will get better. The saying goes..."Good Things Comes To Those Who Wait". I was denied Surgery in July last year and I was hurt. My insurance had an exclusion on this type of surgery. I was so disappointed that I did not fight it. Well now my company changed insurance. I am waiting for approval but all I needed was a letter from my doctor stating that its medically necessary. My Surgery date is January 27th. I am still waiting to see if I will get approve so this is not definite either. I just look at it that maybe last year was not my time...I will have you in my prayers. Desiree Surgeon Dr. Kurian/NY
