My surgery is in two days - tomorrow is the big "Clean out" day if you know what I mean..........I need very much to hear success stories and good info about what to expect immediately postop as in the afternoon of surgery.......i.e. for those of you who had morning surgery, how did you feel in the afternoon? Thanks! Tammy

Hey Tammy, I'm still pre op myself .. but after reading everyone's story.. I'm fully prepared (I think) to feel like death warmed over for a few days. And then according to the posts... this state of health will open us up for the questions about what the heck did I do to myself... This is a very emotional time and we will be going through some rough water. Everything is going to change.. but the end result will be a good one.. so now is the time for us to keep our eyes on the new suddenly attainable goal. Not on our present state. Don't doubt yourself.. you will be just fine.. LIst of things to take to the hospital: WHAT TO TAKE TO THE HOSPITAL: robe slippers with rubber soles so you don't slip chap stick comfortable clothes to wear home with elastic waistband or dress slip on shoes to wear home mouth sponges to paint your mouth with water when can't drink phone card to make long distance calls (no cells in hospital) pillow to press against tummy for ride home spirometer (if you already have it) abdominal binder (if you already have it) socks to keep feet warm hair band to keep hair out of the way reading material if desired (I never read my stuff) Take care and keep the faith!!! ~ Jan

Tammy: I had my surgery at 10:30 am, and I was in recovery until almost 3 p.m. I don't remember anything before that, although they say my surgery was over sometime around noon. I had never had surgery before and never really had any type of pain medicine and it pretty much knocked me out. I could not keep my eyes open. It wasn't until late that night that I finally was able to wake up enough to go walking. Today I am 4 weeks post-op and handling foods well and down 25 pounds from the day before surgery...36 if you go by what I weighed when I came home from surgery (all that gas and fluid they pump into you). I know it is late in the day, but you can email me if you like...I will do my best to check my email tonight. Christy
