I will be having my surgery on the 12th of Jan. and I am really! My cousin had hers on Dec. 18th and she is doing !! She told me that she has not had any problems as far as the surgery goes. She said it was not painful, but just felt weak. She is being cautious with her eating and has yet to . I saw her New Year's Eve and she was ready to ! Try to get the surgery off your mind as much as possible because I am about a week away and the nervousness gets worse, so try to stay ! Good Luck on the 22nd! Wanda

Hey there. Just visiting from the 11/03 board. Recovery depends on whether your having surgery LAP or OPEN. I had very little pain. After coming home, I was sore. Like...I had execrise my tummy to much. Achy not really painful. I had LAP by the way. Gas pain was the only thing that was painful, but you'll be given nice pain meds to take at home and trust me...they work great! I am a big wuss when it comes to pain. I just don't deal well with it. So for me to say this wasn't bad is a big deal!! Its going to be ok.

Hey there Michelle! I had my surgery January 21, 2003. So I am one year ahead of you. I will not sugar coat things for you. But I will tell you how my experience was. I had very little to minimal pain, in fact it was more of a mild discomfort. Go into this experience very positive, before my surgery I found it was best for me to be alone for a few minutes to clear my head and mentally prepare myself for the change I was about to endure. I had a rather uneventful surgery, no complications, no problems all went well. I think my experience was so good because I was prepared, mentally. A strong support network helps too. Although, the only people that will truly understand are those who have gone through it themselves. No matter how bad you dont want too, drink your water, eat your protein, and do your walking, the results will be positive and great. Follow the directions, dont piddle in bed all day wallowing in misery. However, get your rest! My name is Gina, you can reach me at [email protected] If you need any hints or tips on protein recipes, I became very creative. I wish you much luck, You will do great!
