Topic: RE: 4 days after surgery?'s and advice please....
Hello Patricia,
Had my LapRNY done on 1/22/03. Your post surgical symptoms are very normal for just four days after surgery. Please don't be scared that something is wrong, but do keep in touch with your doctor. You'll probably see your doctor soon right?!
This tenderness, pulling, or burning is completely normal.
Just rest, drink tha****er, eat what you're supposed to and follow your doctor's directions completely.
Your body needs time to heal and you will be fine.
Your mind is anxious to heal very quickly, but there is normal inflammation going on from your surgery and that will calm down.
You will loose your weight and each new day brings you closer to doing so! I'd love to hear from you Patricia.
Sincerely,
Bonnie Harris
Topic: RE: Too much booze!
Gosh I've not even tried alcohol yet... Of course I got pregnant only 10 weeks post op and just had my baby 6 weeks ago and now I'm breastfeeding so I still can't have it yet. Oh well I wasn't much of a drinker before WLS either so I'm really not missing much.
Topic: RE: Anyone trying to get Pregnant???
Actually I just had a baby. I accidentally got pregnant at around 10 weeks post op. I had my baby boy at 11 months post op. I started out at 5'7" and 264 lbs and size 22. Currently at 6 week post partum I am 145 lbs and a size 10. I hope you are able to conceive soon, I know what's its like to want to get pregnant and not be able to. I tried to conceive for 2 years before surgery then I got pregnant when I wasn't trying after surgery.

Topic: RE: Help, Am I eating to much....
I felt the same way but you are going to be ok just when you eat make sure you maybe take a walk to burn off the calories I 'm going through the same thing until I talked to my doctor about it I thought I was going to put the weight back on but I haven't so far so you are not alone

Gina,
I suffer from the same body image issues. Don't confuse it with self image, it's body image. Self image is what you think of yourself as a person, as a friend, as a daughter, as a partner. Body image is our old, flabby bodies not letting our new, smaller bodies shine through in our head. TRUST ME, your body looks great to everyone!! We just have to get used to our new look. You lived with your old body for a long time, give the new one a chance to be what you're used to. That's what I keep telling myself and it's helping.
Keep up the great work!! You and I had surgery the same day last year!!
It's been a terrific 12 months for me, too. 216 pounds gone!!
God bless you!

Topic: RE: Are we done?
I'm still losing pretty consistantly. I have my slow weeks, but it's all about what (and how much) we eat and how much we exercise.
Since we can eat anything we "want" to by 12 months it just becomes a matter of making choices every day.
I've lost 216 pounds since 1/21/03. To get to the "perfect" weight, I could stand to lost another 100, but I'll be happy with another 60, 70 or 80, then a tummy tuck, breast lift/reduction, and arm reduction. That should get me as close to the ideal as possible.
Topic: RE: Are we done?
Based on information my doctor gave me you might still lose some more weight. He summarized by saying the amount lost in the first six months would be cut in half the second six months. The second six months loss would be cut in half the third six months.
Example:
First Six months 100 lb loss
Second six mo 50 lb loss
Third six mo 25 lb loss
You guys are so close to goal that it may not work out that way but good luck.
