Topic: RE: Does anyone drink WINE? Or any alcohol?
Adult beverages - I don't think I would have had this surgery if I thought I couldn't enjoy one now and then. I did wait until just over a month ago before I had my first one though. Since then I have enjoyed cranberry & Vodkas (one drink and I am getting sloppy!) and beers. I can actually handle about 2 beers before I get sloppy drunk. I just try and pace myself - one drink lasts about the as long as 2 for a 'regular' person. The funny thing is - I notice that I sober up more quickly now as well. weird.

Kim, I know exactly how you feel. I bet you look wonderful!! It was the best thing I ever did also. I do not regret one moment and I love the look on every "doubters" face as I walk by. KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!
Topic: HELLO EVERYONE!!
I am so bad, I have not responded to anyone who wrote me at this message board!! I want to thank all of you for caring enough to reply and for your support of my journey. My weight loss has slowed down, but guess what? I HAVE NOT!!! I am swimming this summer and enjoying it, I may even try a back flip off the diving board. I have not done that in close to 15 years!!! I think of all of you often and marvel at how strong we are and how brave we are. I cannot wait to see Dr. Boe again and show him how well I have done. I wish everyone well, KEEP YOUR HEADS UP and your EYES on the ultimate prize.
Topic: RE: Does anyone drink WINE? Or any alcohol?
Jaime,
I love to have a ****tail from time to time! My drinks of choice, post-op, are Wine and 7&7. I have not tried beer since my surgery, 6 months ago, but hope to be able to enjoy one again in the future. I seem to tolerate the 7&7 much better than the wine....the wine does indeed make me tipsy after just one or two glasses! (Cheap date now! LOL) My husband and I love to try new Wines and have really enjoyed the Texas Wines! (Look out California!) I always listen to my body and as soon as I start feeling the alcohol, I'll start sipping on some water to avoid dehydrating and potential dumping from the sugar in the Wines. So far so good ~ No ill effects or nasty hangovers. As with new foods, I say give it a try ~ pay attention to your body and enjoy! ~~~Michelle (Open RNY 1/3/03, 100 lbs & Counting!)
Topic: RE: Has anyone's weight loss maintained itself over 1 month?
I went thru a month long plateau a few months back. I was walking 2 miles a day. I stopped walking and starting working out with exercise tapes. This increased my cardiovascular and helped me increase the weight loss. I know it sounds funny that 3 miles aren't enough to really get your heart beating, but after awhile your body adjust to it and needs an extra boost. Do you still get that feeling after a walk like you did in the begining? Hope it helps.

Hi Jamie. I too had a period of one month that the cale did not move, but I was losing inches. On My 5th week the scale finally moved again. I know it is hard to not see the scale move, but be patient it will move again. Good luck and keep doing what you are doing.

I wanted to let everyone know Kanerdra is doing well. She had her surgery March 17, 2003. She has lost 81 pounds so far and is doing well.
Topic: Has anyone's weight loss maintained itself over 1 month?
I was going through a maintaining weight of 245 for the longest time (1 month). I could not change it. I was walking almost 3 miles 3-5 times a week. Nothing i did helped.... Is anyone experiencing this same problem?
Topic: Does anyone drink WINE? Or any alcohol?
Ever since about 4 months post op, a friend who had the surgery as well introduced me to WINE! And ever since then, i started drinking on a nightly basis! All i need is 1 glass to get me tipsy, then it went on to two and now it's at three glasses! As of this week, i stopped drinking. It was starting to get the best of me......
Does any of you drink? Or am i the only one?
Topic: RE: Average weekly weight loss
Had my RNY on 1/13/03 and am averaging about 1.5 lbs per week. I have been at this pace for about 6 weeks now as well. Occasionally I will have a bigger drop but then the next week is next to nothing - so it all averages out. I don't count calories or carbs or anything like that. I drink at least 75oz - usually 100 oz of water, eat 3 meals with a snack if I need it. And am happy with how my loss is going. One of my goals of this surgery was to stop being a food "freak". Always worried about the next meal or if people thought I was eating too much. I am happy that I can go to a greasy spoon diner with my friends and have lunch without anyone thinking twice about what I eat or don't eat. I try to exercise at least 3 times per week - but I travel for work and exercise seems the first thing that gets tossed to the wayside when I am tired! Keep up the good work! 1/13/03 - 277/205.5/145
