Wow! And I thought I was the only one having problems. Ever since I found out that I can drink and feel tipsy or drunk' after 1-2 glasses of wine, I was in heaven. Really not heaven though. I still have a problem. I seem to be drinking alot and have a hard time turning it down. Drinking alot has contributed into me not loosing the weight as fast as I would have likes to. I to date after 1 year has only losted alittle under 100 pounds. I feel your habbit and too need help getting out of this bad habbit. Talk with your doctor. I am sure he will know what to do. GOOD LUCK!

I for one was drinking more than usual over the holidays, usual being not at all. Just found myself having a glass or two of wine every other day or so. Went out with a girlfriend a couple Sat. nites ago. Been post TT since the 8th so I'm not drinking at all, nor did I up to 5 days pre-op. This time of year is tough for many, post-holiday blues and all. I have no desire to get back to the wine anytime soon. It stopped my weightloss. Empty calories and water retention do that to you. If you're where you wanna be, fine, but as always, IN MODERATION. If you're looking for validation, you may have a problem that you should seek counseling about. Only you know, but if you're having doubts, talk to your surgeon. That's what he's there for. To help. I wish you the best.

This is my first experience with them. A lot of patients need them for their WLS, I did not. The drains are put in place to help remove excess blood and fluid that may build up under your skin in your abdominal cavity post-op. I have 2 that come out from my pubic area. There are 2 tubes that go to 2 bulbs that hang around my neck. The air is squeezed out of the bulbs when you empty them, this creates a mild suction that pulls the excess fluid from your body through the tubes. No, it is not pleasant, but if they weren't there, the fluid could cause an infection, not to mention the extra pressure it would put on my insides as I am wrapped tighter than a sausage in this girdle and binder! They will be removed this coming Mon, after the fluid output reaches below 50 cc's for 3 days in a row. That varies from Dr to Dr. Some will remove them earlier. Many people have no problems with them. Mine have been pretty uncomfortable. Drugs have helped a LOT.

Anyone else having trouble with drinking too much alcohol?? I'm trying to quit, but it's as hard as hell. I don't want to put the weight back on. I'm scared!

And Life is GOOD! Healing well tho the drains really suck. Thank God and my Dr for painkillers. And when I stepped on the scale w/ girdle and drains this AM, it read 149!!! -151 from 300! My BMI is 24.0, I'm 'ideal'. How cool is all that? Oh, and I got my first shower since last Thurs. I'd also like to take a moment to thank God for wipes. A MUST-HAVE FOR ALL POST-OPS! The most exciting part of my day? Looking at my flat tummy. I've NEVER had a flat tummy. I was about 9 when my old one 'fell'. Been looking at rolls ever since. It's a miracle. Wishing everyone here the best. OH has been the biggest help to me. Thanks to all of you who keep it going. What you do here is priceless for so many.

Topic: RE: AM I TOO YOUNG TO HAVE THE RYN?
Hi Saraha, I think that you are way too young to comtemplate having such a drastic surgery. If you have health insurance ask you doctor to send you to a nutritionist. They can hep you get on the right path to eating healthier. If you don't exercise you need to ge out there and start to move. The best form of exercise is walking. When I was you age I was already extremely overweight and I never had anyone take an real pro active interest in my weight. So as I got older it just got worse and worse. Now I am 47 years old with many years of not doing anything really fun in my life. That was all because of my weight. Please talk to your parents and tell them you need help in getting your weight under control. If you would like to discuss this any further or need help let me know Ramona Surgery 1/13/2003 weigth was 357 now 213

Topic: RE: Help, Am I eating to much....
I am 12 months OUT I had open RNY and my gallbladder taken out. I can't tollerate fat over 5 grams and only natural sugar (like the diabetic diet) at each meal. I think it was because of the gallbladder removal. I have asked some and they seem to think this is a good conclusion. Ask a doctor about this.... Get more than one doc's oppinion. The only substitute I can tollerate is Equal. I hope this helps....gallbladders are easy to remove if you still have one..... They told me with any history of gallstones in my family that I should have it taken out because this surgery can cause them. T. Giles
