Ever since about 4 months post op, a friend who had the surgery as well introduced me to WINE! And ever since then, i started drinking on a nightly basis! All i need is 1 glass to get me tipsy, then it went on to two and now it's at three glasses! As of this week, i stopped drinking. It was starting to get the best of me...... Does any of you drink? Or am i the only one?

Jaime, I love to have a ****tail from time to time! My drinks of choice, post-op, are Wine and 7&7. I have not tried beer since my surgery, 6 months ago, but hope to be able to enjoy one again in the future. I seem to tolerate the 7&7 much better than the wine....the wine does indeed make me tipsy after just one or two glasses! (Cheap date now! LOL) My husband and I love to try new Wines and have really enjoyed the Texas Wines! (Look out California!) I always listen to my body and as soon as I start feeling the alcohol, I'll start sipping on some water to avoid dehydrating and potential dumping from the sugar in the Wines. So far so good ~ No ill effects or nasty hangovers. As with new foods, I say give it a try ~ pay attention to your body and enjoy! ~~~Michelle (Open RNY 1/3/03, 100 lbs & Counting!)

Adult beverages - I don't think I would have had this surgery if I thought I couldn't enjoy one now and then. I did wait until just over a month ago before I had my first one though. Since then I have enjoyed cranberry & Vodkas (one drink and I am getting sloppy!) and beers. I can actually handle about 2 beers before I get sloppy drunk. I just try and pace myself - one drink lasts about the as long as 2 for a 'regular' person. The funny thing is - I notice that I sober up more quickly now as well. weird.

I've had some alcohol-talk about a cheap drunk!!! My aunt was drinking wine quite a bit for awhile there, much like you described. She cut back, though, after she realized she was drinking too much. You're not the only one! I figure it's like most other things we put in our mouths....a little is fine, too much is too much!

I am now 25 weeks post op aka 6 months on July 14th. My drink of choice that seems to work well is a cosmopolitan. I love them and am also a cheap drunk. I have yet to have a hangover though I guess because it doesnt take that many to feel intoxicated so you stop sooner. I am afraid to try beer as I still dont drink anything fuzzy or carbonated. I havent tried anything like that not even once. Too scary for me! Good luck to everyone and happy loosing!
