Melissa Bailey, PsyD, is a licensed clinical psychologist with active practices in several states. She has been in the field for over 20 years and received her doctorate from the Illinois School of Professional Psychology in Chicago with an emphasis on Health Psychology.
Dr. Bailey is a leader in weight-loss surgery evaluations and pre- and post-surgical support in Southern California and, more recently, Florida. She is committed to providing comprehensive psychological evaluations and supporting patients as they work toward a healthier lifestyle. Her vast career includes crisis teamwork, individual and family therapy, psychological assessments, public speaking, and teaching.
She has taught at community colleges, Pepperdine University, Ryokan College, and Arizona State University in their Doctorate of Behavioral Health Programs. Her extensive knowledge of available therapies, in conjunction with her knowledge of public systems and agencies, allows for expert clinical diagnoses and the provision of individually prescribed therapy recommendations.
In addition to her private practice, Dr. Bailey has a special interest in autism. She has two children who are on the spectrum, and as a result, she is passionate about supporting families with children who have special needs.
Dr. Melissa Bailey is also a breast cancer survivor. Being trained as a health psychologist prepared her with the knowledge to help patients with chronic and terminal issues; her experience as a patient with her illness gave her a unique perspective to provide unparalleled compassion. She is the author of Pink Hell: Breast Cancer Sucks, where she shares her journey with breast cancer while adding her sense of Seinfeld-style humor to help both women and men relate to her unique experience.
