Dr. Justin West is a board-certified plastic surgeon with extensive experience in complex reconstructive surgery. As the son of a nurse and surgeon, Dr. West knew at a very young age he would pursue a career in medicine. Dr. West received his Bachelor of Arts from Pomona College in Claremont, CA, and his medical degree from Jefferson Medical College in Philadelphia. He then interned in the surgical laboratory at the University of California, Irvine, where he helped test new technologies for heart bypass surgery. During this time, he published journal articles in the fields of trauma and cardiac surgery.
He attended the prestigious six-year integrated residency program in Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery at Georgetown University Hospital in Washington, DC, where he trained under world-renowned surgeons in the fields of aesthetic and reconstructive breast surgery. After completing his residency, Dr. West pursued a subspecialty in aesthetic surgery at the distinguished Manhattan Eye, Ear, and Throat Hospital.
During this year, he gained extensive experience and studied advanced techniques in cosmetic surgery of the face and body under the direction of internationally recognized experts. He was also a mentor and instructor for NYU and Cornell University plastic surgery residents.
Dr. West believes in educating and empowering patients to make well-informed decisions about their care and works tirelessly to ensure that patients achieve their individual surgical goals. Dr. West and Dr. Schwartz trained together at Georgetown and have treated lipedema and other complex surgical diseases together since 2010.

Dr. West’s Availability: Due to a family emergency, Dr. Justin West will no longer be attending the conference, and all scheduled consultations have been canceled. However, the Total Lipedema Care (TLC) team will still be available at their exhibit table. Standing in for Dr. West’s session, TLC’s Research Coordinator, Eva Danesh, will be speaking.
Passionate about working with the lipedema community, Eva enjoys providing insights to support those affected by the condition and educating the wider healthcare community. At Total Lipedema Care, Eva focuses on conducting research on lipedema and advancements in surgical techniques and treatment approaches. She has presented her research at several events, including the 2023 ObesityHelp Conference in Cost Mesa, CA, and the 2024 Fat Disorders Research Society meeting in St. Louis, MO, as well as at the University of California, Los Angeles. Eva is a graduate of UCLA and a first-year medical student at Keck School of Medicine at USC.
